Apple is pouring $390 million into an American company that helps power AirPods and FaceID -- an investment that will create 500 jobs in Texas. The money will come from a $1 billion fund that Apple established earlier this year to boost U.S. manufacturing jobs. Apple says the cash will help Finisar, a chip maker, restart a 700,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, by the second half of next year. The new plant will create 500 "high-skill" jobs. Finisar produces "vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers" (VCSELs), which power some Apple's newest features, including Face ID, Animoji, Portrait mode selfies and AirPods. The investment will go toward rebooting a previously closed 700,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas. The new plant, which will create 500 jobs, is expected to open in the second half of next year.

Wow! A couple of decades ago I worked with Frank Levinson, the founder of Finnisar at another company involved in systems using electro-optics.
No problemo, amigo.
Who will supply the suicide netting?
I just can’t keep up with all the new tech. I have an iPad, but what the heck is an AirPod?

Trump got this dialogue going.
It’s paying off.
Anytime they have "Air" in the name, it's a good bet it's a wireless device. Sure enough, wireless earphone module in the ear.
Speaking of new tech, I got a battery of health tests last week, having put them off for years after switching health plans. They sent me home with a module that fit over my finger all night while sleeping. The doctor analyzed recordings on the device that recorded heart rate, stress, oxygen levels in the blood, etc. I couldn't believe a little device could do that, the electronics scanned below the skin to the blood vessels and monitored oxygen levels. Marry that device with AirPods and your brain health could be sent to your doctor wirelessly!
Very interesting! Thanks for the reply.

Apple AirPods with charging case:
AirPods are wonderful.
But Apple is a liberal, America-hating company... you know... gay and all... or something.
Seriously, I’m sure there will be plenty (including the regular trolls here on FR) who will find some kind of fault with Apple actually expanding US manufacturing and US jobs in general...
