Doug Jones’ Victory May Give Trump A Second Supreme Court Pick
Daily Caller ^ | 12/13/2017 | Kevin Daley

In a political environment as volatile as this, his power as the Court’s swing vote is at its maximum. It seems counter intuitive that he would retire as his influence reaches its apex. What’s more, Kennedy has a high opinion of the Court’s capacity to bear moral clarity for a restless nation, making his continued service a matter of duty.
However true this may be, the justice is 81 and he is, after all, a Republican. Given his age and political inclinations, it is reasonable to assume he would like to retire and would prefer to do so under a Republican president. Jones’ stunning victory Tuesday betrayed the vulnerability of the GOP’s Senate majority, and the very real possibility that Democrats will seize control of the upper chamber in November 2018.

Should Democrats secure a Senate majority, it is highly unlikely that they would confirm any Trump judicial nominee. The speed with which Republicans have processed judicial candidates has been intensely frustrating for Democrats, and the GOP’s refusal to entertain Judge Merrick Garland’s 2016 nomination to the high court still elicits visceral outrage on the left.

No. Very unlikely with 25 seats to defend vs. 8.

The one clear message from this election is that democrats have absolutely nothing on which to base a campaign. Their only strategy is to scream racist, or make false accusations against their opponents.

The totality of this realization is that with nothing to campaign on they have nothing to offer the country. Their only motivations are greed and power which, of course, is fine with the media.

First, it is a huge uphill battle for the Democrats to take the Senate in 2018, not that Trudle won't do all in his powers to make that happen - the nothing he is so capable of doing.

Second "The speed with which Republicans have processed judicial candidates has been intensely frustrating for Democrats." The pace at which the senate as disposed of Trump's nominations has been intensely frustrating to those who subscribe to MAGA. A snail is faster.

When it comes to District Judges, McConnell’s Senate is proceeding at a hobbled turtle’s pace. There are many District Court nominees who have been approved by the Judiciary Committee but are long-suffering as they await McConnell to process them to a confirmation vote.

I agree, and I think a read into this for the House is equally as lame.

Folks want what Trump is trying to give them.

I don’t think they’re dumb enough to block him in the House and Senate.

Of course the GOPe hasn’t weighed in yet. It’s quite likely they’ll be on the Democrats side once again, just like yesterday.

That’s 8 sexual misconduct ads.

Thank you....had enough of this nonsense that the GOP is going to lose the senate in 18. The dems need to defend 25 seats. That said I do hope Kennedy retires after this term.

.....Jones’ stunning victory....

Yes, it was stunning how the polls showed Moore up, up until last weekend and how close the race ended up being, despite the onslaught of attacks from the leftists (including all of the RINOs).

Simply stunning.

The opportunist DemoRats have stumbled upon a very clever campaign strategy:

<><> started with "Romney paid no taxes"

<><> segued to weinsteining every candidate with "he raped me."

The one-note samba of the DemoRat party----they focus-group simpleton phrases, then insert the successful ones into any campaign...relevant or not.

I suggest Trump or Bannon have some hilarious comebacks ready---ad spots, editorial cartoons, for example.

Say something like: "Did he rape you before or after not paying his taxes?"

We must always remember we are from the party of Ronald Reagan. His opponent's campaign manager said Mondale lost when Ronald Reagan responded about being too old to run: "I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience."

“The one clear message from this election is that democrats have absolutely nothing on which to base a campaign.”

Not true. They will run on socialized medi - oh excuse me “single payer healthcare” - and other government giveaways and more affirmative action goodies. Also they will cater to “dreamers”.

And if the GOP candidate is against that then they will be called “racist” and/or “sexist”.

HAT TIP VENDOME The Moore race was a one off. Dems have been saying each race is "a referendum on Trump "and then they lose.

They got one Senate win in ALA, so far......and its a big one....a solid red state.

However, in 2018 they have 25 House seats up, Republicans have 8 seats. Dems have, minimum, 11 at risk, while Republicans have merely one.

My guess is Dems lose 8; Republicans end up at a healthy 59 seat majority. (Unless every voter becomes a misogynist or a pedophile next year.)

In the meantime, the "Hooray For Us" Dems are blind-sided ----- they aren’t seeing what the other hand is doing b/c we are stacking up wins like cord wood.

Judiciary being the biggest thus far….......which puts a huge crimp in their nasty agenda. (hat tip Vendome)
