Detained by US, Mexican journalist fears death if deported

The U.S. government historically rejects most asylum claims. Over a five-year period ending in September 2016, the U.S. received about 267,000 asylum claims and granted 46,000. It has granted asylum in recent years to a number of Mexican journalists. But Eduardo Beckett, Gutierrez's lawyer, accused the U.S. of turning a blind eye to corruption and violence in Mexico, and blamed the Trump administration for changing how it deals with asylum seekers. "There is no more humanity," Beckett said. "The new tactic is, we'll pressure you, we'll keep you detained, in hopes you'll give up."... After receiving what his advocates called veiled threats, Gutierrez discovered his name had been placed on a hit list. So he fled north with his teenage son and entered the U.S. in 2008, seeking asylum.

He’s so worried about being on a Mexican hit list yet he’s living on the border in El Paso. Yeah, and how many times a month does he go back across into Mexico? Is he going back to see the family at Christmas like they all do?

Good point.

If ICE could document that, it sure would put the lie to his claims.

Mexicans need to make Mexico GREATER than the US.

Maybe the Democrats can go there and implement their ideas.

I watched a documentary recently about how the drug folks have taken over the country, how much of their feds are on the take, all the murders while at the same time some of the drug thugs are considered saints.

This jackass Mexican journalist is in a position make a difference, instead he wants to bring his social disease to us. I say F-— No! Go home and face the music they let fester themselves.

Yeah, he is a liar and thief like all of them who come here illegally. Even if he gets killed when we kick his ass out, I wouldn’t really care. It is his problem, and he probably had something to do with creating it.

They could care less that illegals come here and commit murders, sell drugs, steal and commit rapes..not to mention abuse our welfare and not pay taxes...all of which would, and should, never happen if they stayed in their own countries..

All politicians and career border officials ought to watch Aplle Tv's,
Amores Perros (Love is a Bitch).
It is a cross-section of Mexico's culture, from top to bottom.

The film easily answers the question: Will such people overall provide a positive or negative impact on our culture?

I will stipulate our country enjoys the presence of many very fine and gifted immigrants from the south, but at what price?
