An explosion has reportedly gone off at New York's main bus station - with terrified tourists seen "stampeding" from the scene.
A bomb squad has been dispatched to Manhattan's Port Authority Bus Terminal following the reported blast, witnesses claim.
Taking to Twitter this morning, one woman wrote: "Just was stuck in a running stampede at port authority bus terminal due to bomb scare."
She added: "Cops EVERYWHERE."
The reports are currently unconfirmed.

I try to control my bad language, because I agree that more than an occasional outburst is generally indicative of less than desirable personality and intellect traits. I used to be a sailor, and freely engaged for many years after.
It was kind of funny in that respect, because it was as if I was in a soundproofed chamber (so nobody could really hear what I was saying, but they could see my mouth moving and the expressions on my face) and I could see them looking at me with wide eyes and their mouths in an “O” shape...
I was in the process of saying extremely derogatory things about the system, the ticket, the phone, the MTA, New Yorkers, and New York in general...all compressed into perhaps 15 seconds, which as you can guess, isn’t a long amount of time to compress all that profanity into, but I did some “fine and fancy cussing” to achieve that...

Correct! Besides, there are so many of these people working in NYC as security guards. I first noticed it in 2001-2002 while visiting the ruins of the World Trade Center.
I was an employee of United Airlines and wanted to visit the “family room” in a building that looked over the rubble. A policeman on the street instructed me to go into a certain building to visit that room. I did, and every single person at the desk in that lobby, and every guard there was Middle Eastern! There were at least 7-10 of them! I couldn’t believe it! I couldn’t believe I was begging them to allow me to visit that room! They gave me a really hard time, but eventually gave me permission to take the elevator to the “family room.”
Once I left, I went to a bank across the street. The guard there was Middle Eastern! That’s when I realized that they are employed everywhere in NYC. I never gave it a thought before 9/11. They have access to all buildings.

FWIW, I’ve been to a lot of US cities, some European. Enjoyed most, loathed some. Never want to live in one. Cities are hotbeds of social pathology.
I think there’s a place for both rural and urban in our country. One can choose to have all one or the other - or a combination of both. I choose a combination of both. I love working in the city but I do like my quiet weekends at home surrounded by woods and hiking trails.
I’m not about to say there’s not a place. Just that I will never live in one. And I’m not a country mouse. I just think cities are unhealthy places to live, not necessarily for individual inhabitants, just for populations in general.
