BOSTON (CBS/AP) Former Massachusetts Sen. Brian Joyce violated the publics trust and decided to take the path of greed by using his office for personal profit to accept up to $1 million in bribes and kickbacks in exchange for official actions, federal investigators said Friday.
Joyce, a longtime attorney and Milton
Democrat who was arrested Friday, is accused of then hiding that money by creating a shell company and disguising it as legal fees.
We believe Mr. Joyce was greedy, plain and simple, FBI Special Agent in Charge Hank Shaw said.

Other than the fact that the Herald was sold today, Howie Carr must be in seventh heaven.
If only it had been the corrupt midget.
$1 million in bribes and kickbacks?
The corruption is endless.
Howie will never run out of material for his show and columns.
Isn’t this “Multiple Choice Joyce”?
Brian “Mutiple Choice” Joyce.
CBS didn’t mention his party of course, so I checked.
Yep, you guessed it, and that’s why CBS didn’t mention it.
Beat me to it!
Actually, it was in the second sentence meaning heads will roll at CBS Boston.
The indictment also accuses Joyce of taking legislative action to aid a Dunkin Donuts franchise whose owner was paying him tens of thousands of dollars for purported legal fees and providing him with hundreds of pounds of free coffee.
Nice. Very nice.
That is most likely just the tip of the iceberg. How else can congresscreeps and spinators manage to make $180,000 a year or so and almost all come out of office multi millionaires?
$180 a year sounds like a lot of money but you don’t accumulate millions on that pay and you don’t just get that lucky in the stock market.
All this greed and corruption should be enough to make America recoil is disgust.
What democrat hasn’t violated the public trust at least a couple hundred times?
America didn’t recoil in disgust either when Obama’s senate seat was sold for cash.
I think Obama has probably gotten 10s of millions in kickbacks. Who pays for his shadow Trump trips? I would like to know.
Not a peep.
The physical plant of the whole country is in a state of neglect. I see nothing here to be proud of anymore. The corruption just ices the cake.
Still, not a peep.
I’m sure the Federal Prosecutors got it right so I will blame the writers of this article.
Here’s a Newsflash: .............it is perfectly legal to pay your attorney in donuts, coffee, clothes, gift certs, trips to vegas, spare tires or whatever. I paid one with two shotguns once to take a deposition of my estranged wife. I couldn’t pay him in cash because I wasn’t suppose to have any!
What the writer means I’m sure is that the donuts and coffee were traded for “favors” not “legal fees”.
Public Trust! What is that?
Ive said that for years. If theyre not rich when they go in theyre all rich when/if they go out.
They cant all be genius investors.
Only a million dollars? That is a small time player in Massachusetts.
