First look at special counsel Mueller’s expenses to give critics fresh ammo

Russia hacking probe this week to disclose bill to taxpayers

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has locked in two guilty pleas and two criminal indictments in the seven months since he took over the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. But there’s one statistic he has yet to make public — the investigation’s cost.

The special counsel is preparing to release a statement of expenditures in the coming days providing a first look at what the probe is costing taxpayers — and depending on how funds have been spent, the disclosures could open up the controversial probe to additional criticism.

“There is a spotlight on the cost of these matters, some of which have been extremely exorbitant in the past,” said Randall Samborn, senior vice president of Levick and the former spokesman for Patrick Fitzgerald’s special counsel investigation into the unmasking of CIA agent Valerie Plame in the mid-2000s.

Ken Starr’s 1990s-era investigation into President Bill Clinton ranks as the priciest independent counsel investigation on record, costing taxpayers around $73 million and involving the work of more than 170 employees and federal government detailees. Compared to that record-breaking probe, Mr. Mueller, a former director of the FBI, appears to be running a tighter operation.

Mr. Starr’s office employed 35 attorneys, including 15 hired from outside the federal government, according to a 1999 Government Accountability Office report on the staffing levels of the investigation.

By contrast, Mr. Mueller’s team includes 17 attorneys, only five of whom where hired from outside the government. A recent report from ABC News suggests he’s spent around $5 million thus far.

No matter what the outcome of this witch-hunt by special councel Mueller on the false Russia fiasco, taxpayer funds may as well have been flushed down a toilet.

That is a true truth, but THE ACT of examining his finances is in itself yet another deliberate diversion, should it acquire momentum.

Donald Trump owns this one

He should have fired Comey on his first day in office, just like he did with Clapper and Brennan and a bunch of others- 12:00 noon on Jan 20

Mueller and team is good. Trump needs to be found innocent by his enemies, not his friends. In today’s politics there’s no such thing as an objective investigator.

Politically, that would have been the dumbest thing President Trump could have done.

I'm surprised you'd even suggest such a thing in light of what has transpired SINCE January 20th of 2017.

It's no coincidence that Comey was fired in early May, immediately after he testified before the U.S. Senate that President Trump was not the target of any FBI investigation. This sworn statement from Comey was needed before he could be fired, because it took the whole "obstruction of justice" allegation off the table as a rationale for his termination.

Ok, I can agree with that.

But Sessions is the co-signer.

And while he was at it, Trump should have sent active duty members of the military in large numbers to the border.

Last week, it was revealed on, I believe FOX Business and or FOX News, the cost of the [very] “Special Counsel” investigation led by [sovereign King of the USA] Mueller, was INTENTIONALLY going to be nearly impossible to ascertain, as unlike previous “special counsels”, team Mueller was utilizing *TWO* finance sources. *IN ADDITION TO, funds normally made available for a special prosecutor, which carries finance oversight and record, Mueller was given access to, (hold on to your hair), **HIDDEN/UNDISCLOSED CONGRESSIONAL SLUSH FUND MONEY** WITH NO OVERSIGHT, to pursue Trump!

This almost certainly guarantee’s Mueller will not be obligated to disclose money used from the **CONGRESSIONAL SLUSH FUND**, as there would be little to no accountability.

So it appears Mueller has two funding streams, one with oversight, and one without. It was the point of the segment.

However, while it seems there must still be those who do know how much is spent from the *congressional slush fund, it appears this is being intentionally done by Congress to give nearly unlimited advantage to Mueller to take down team Trump, and to avoid disclosing how much taxpayer money is actually being spent by Mueller to do it! If true, it appears to be additional evidence congress itself is trying to eliminate President Trump.

Nice, government taking taxpayer money from the electorate, to force a coup d’état to overturn the electorates vote in President Trump...

IF TRUE, while there are fine lines, and limited overlapping cooperation which necessarily takes place when a “Special Counsel” is appointed, between the separation of powers (branches), *HOW is the unorthodox use of an hidden congressional slush fund not currently bound by public disclosure, and with almost no oversight or limit, NOT evidence of active “COLLUSION” between the Legislative Branch, a politically left wing weaponized Intel Community, and a left wing weaonized Justice Department? Especially as it has now been learned this entire lawfully illegal effort was strategically set up under the Obama Administration months before the transition of power, to take down the new constitutionally elected president.

How many government entities or offices were and are involved, in the “effort” to carefully implement the previous administrations conspiracy to overthrow the will of the electorate who voted for Trump?

Thanks...Things like this are infuriating and I fully believe they wouldn’t be taking place but for the “Uniparty” we often refer to.

That had been my assumption too, until recently It’s pretty obvious that fact or lies, right and wrong or legal and illegal have very little to do with how this is going to shake out It all comes down to the stupidity of the American voter and and misinformation and lies that they are being fed. I totally underestimated the stupidity of the American voters who bought CNN and Pelosi’s absurd lies about Bush and the war on terror and figured no one was stupid enough to buy that load of BS But the morons bought it hook, line and sinker and gave us Obama, a Pelosi House and Democrat Senate super majority that did so much damage in 2 years that it will take us a generation to recover from. Then look at how they railroaded Scooter Libbey for a fairy tail about a nobody Never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter My wife and I got into a fight she over my support of Roy Moore because she was furious that I would support a sex offender😳 . She’s a registered Republican and I am an independent . She is a lot more conservative than I am which goes to show the power of media propaganda to smear people and sway public opinion My take is that Trump has the goods on these guys and will soon go on the offensive and moot the entire Mueller witch hunt. If Mueller is not sandbagging for Trump then he will soon be indicted along with Comey and Rosenstein for misconduct in the Uranium One investigation If I am deluding myself on this then we may be in for some interesting times

“This sworn statement from Comey was needed before he could be fired, because it took the whole “obstruction of justice” allegation off the table as a rationale for his termination.” (Alberta’s Child)

I agree with where you are going with your argument.

As weird as it may seem, I also believe it was smart to wait for Comey’s exoneration regarding Trump.

However, Mueller is totally guilty of covering up massive crimes against the US with U-1, and has gone “ALL IN” for several reasons. Too many to get into here!

Lets just say Mueller is stalling and providing cover and time for those involved in true conspiracy against the US, including himself.

It is also clear Mueller is attempting to provide congressional Democrats and never-Trump RINO’s with a “library” of carefully constructed (false) narrative to “prove” Trump is a liar, impulsive, and dangerous to society and the world, to potentially impeach Trump, if they get the chance.

As such, [King] Mueller has literally OVERTURNED some of Comey’s pivotal FBI/Flynn findings. Mueller is apparently 100% committed to obstructing Trump, creating left wing “talking points, getting Congress to threaten and act against Trump, and stretching his influence out as far as possible, regardless of the consequences to the US.

In the past few weeks, Mueller has demonstrated an act of supremacy over the Justice Department itself, by ORDERING the very individual (Rosenstein), who appointed him, and is legally responsible to provide oversight to the same “special prosecutor” (Mueller), and as well, AG Jeff Sessions, who stood aside to allow Rosenstein’s oversight of Mueller himself, TO TURN OVER ALL RECORDS related to the executive (Trump) transition over the FBI, and the internal sequence leading to Comey’s firing!

It also has to be concluded, Mueller is part of the left wing effort to, in the least, obstruct any conservative agenda, and to obstruct Trumps presidency and reelection.

Using the same recorded testimony of Gen Flynn, where Comey’s team had determined, (because of prolonged and stressful interrogation), Flynn had not intentionally lied to investigators, but had accidently mixed up, or confused his own timeline, Mueller not only took the same evidence to charge General Flynn, but to intentionally threaten and destroy General Flynn’s life and family!

MUELLER IS SUCH A PATRIOT! /s

Apparently Flynn had been confused by the questions, and the confusion itself is now part of the record. Based on what we see happening now, it is absolutely clear, despite the slightly different answers given by Gen Flynn, Muellers charges are still not about any event or effort involving the pre-election cycle, and as such can only focus on a “lying” (*A PROCESS CHARGE).

Personally, if justice were to be witnessed, and America and liberty protected, Mueller would need, and all involved in the last administration would need to be put away for life.

Please cite any evidence you have about Mueller's involvement in alleged "crimes" or covering up crimes in the Uranium One case.

There have been so many allegations posted here about that, and I've never seen anything more substantive than quotes from some guest on a tabloid talk radio or cable news show.
