When Egyptian general Al-Sisi ousted the Muslim Brotherhood from power, many in the West celebrated his coup. The Muslim Brotherhood's leader Mohammed Morsi had been an extremist intent on "cleansing" his country of Egypt's Christians, known as Copts.
However, since becoming president, Al-Sisi has done little to nothing to protect the Copts. In fact, under his rule, more churches have been closed down than ever before. Christians are regularly targeted by Islamist extremist terrorists, and Copts generally feel that they may not have a future in their country.
Al-Monitor reports:
When a long-awaited law on building and restoring churches went into effect in Egypt in September 2016, several Christian members of parliament hailed it as a step in the right direction. Members of Egypts Coptic Christian community -- the countrys largest religious minority -- celebrated the landmark legislation they hoped would ease restrictions on church building, some dating back more than 150 years, to the days when Egypt was part of the Ottoman Empire ... More than a year after the issuance of the law, there is widespread disappointment and concern among Egypts Coptic Christians, who accuse the government of stalling on its promises to end discrimination against them. The closure of four churches in two southern Egyptian provinces (three churches in Minya and one in Sohag) by the authorities since mid-October has further fueled the frustration of Egypts Coptic Christian minority, which makes up about 10% of the country's population.
The authorities are appeasing extremist Muslims by closing churches under the pretext that [the churches] pose a threat to social peace and stability, columnist Youssef Sidhom, himself a Christian, wrote in a Nov. 11 op-ed for the Coptic Solidarity website, a portal advocating equal citizenship for Egypts Coptic Christians.

We have a lot of clout with Egypt due to the aid that we give them.
We ought to suggest that they need to appease the biggest Christian country in the world, if they want to keep getting our stuff...
The NWO needs to wipe true Christians off the face of the Earth or infiltrate their churches like they did with all mainline “churches”. It has been their plan since before day one (Jekyll Island cartel meeting).
When they can destroy Christianity, the only religion that created the Age of Reason and Modern Science and the US Constitution, then they can warp all the little minds so they will be incapable of logic and reason (free will and individualism) and they will “LOVE” their servitude, their slavery to the NWO—to international corporations. All people have to “think” one way-—which is not “thinking” at all.
After the Muslim Brotherhood, with Obama support, took control of Egypt a few years ago. They attacked and destroyed Christian churches, killed Christians and persecuted them terribly. When Al Sisi drove out the MB and became President he immediately began repairing and rebuilding churches, and met with their leaders pledging support. Each Christmas he appears at the Coptic Cathedral to affirm his support. That is why Obama hated Al Sisi.
IOW, US aid gets cut because terrorist paramilitaries are still operating in the country, and al-Sisi has to try to defend what is left of Egypt with less money. Great call!

I understand that, I wouldn't want to be a Copt in Egypt. Not sure there's a lot the US can do other than exert verbal pressure. Cutting aid over what is described in the article would be foolish.
