Putting forth a theory as a possibility is simply being rational. Also trusting completely to our sensibilities when making a judgement can sometimes trip us up. For example there are some theories dealing with Quantumn Mechanics that are far more absurd to human sensibilities, but which now have such strong Empirical evidence supporting them that they are not even controversial anymore.
I take a Cartesian approach to epistemology. What I can clearly see must be true by logic I will trust. In other things where I rely in part on some combination of intuition, sensibility and/or gathered evidence, I should at most have a working theory, which may, for all I know, be wrong, but at least seems the most likely to me at the time I need to make decisions.
Whipping actual CREAM is about the only use for nitrous I’ve never heard of....;)
Which means????? It could mean it really is a witch hunt, or that Trump's witch hunt comment is really just psy ops. With as much of a tizzy as the media is in on every word Trump tweets (or doesn't, such as Coveffe), it is quite possible they are being played like a fiddle, while in the mean time those that have been adding to their wealth illegally over the last 20 years are going to have a real problem. I guess we won't know for some time, yet. Safe to say, though, at least in my view, if there was any "there" there with regard to Trump, it would have already been busted out in the open.

Interesting. When I see stars in the night sky they look quite small--like little dots. But I understand them to be quite large.
Also, when I think of a triangle as defined by mathematicians, I usually have an image in my mind of a triangular figure. However I know that the figure is not quite a triangle--since the image has some thickness to the edges, and I understand that a triangle as defined by mathematicians does not. Also I can not all at once have an image of every possible variation of a triangle all at once in my mind. And yet I can clearly understand the concept of all the variations of the concept of a triangle.
The point is, "seeing" is not the same as understanding. In order to understand we don't just see, but we make a judgement based on what we see.
Of course I think you are using the word "see" in an ambiguous way. Both literally "seeing" and as a metaphor for making a judgement you have a lot of confidence in.
I have no issue with people having confidence in some of their sensible and intuitive judgements. My problem is when one does not acknowledge that what they have not completely proven might be wrong.
