He’s just the “designated maverick” to ensure the bill fails. Kabuki theater. The gop faction of the uniparty is bound and determined to lose the election in 2018. They want to return to the good old days in the minority when they didn’t have to lead.

Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.

Yep. Johnson was just reelected and isn’t up for SIX YEARS. No reason for him to do this other than stick it to POTUS.

I heard Johnson explaining why he wouldn’t pass Obamacare repeal either. He sounds like a hothead to me.

I really wish I could disagree with you.

But unfortunately I can’t because what you said makes perfect sense.

People might dismiss that as a wild conspiracy mentality, but I just had the same idea today. I got to thinking about how Murkowski is one of the Senators that torpedoed Obamacare repeal.

Mark Levin says McConnell backed Murkowski over Miller, the Republican standard bearer from the Tea Party in 2010. So she owes him big time. And McConnell carries a lot of weight in the GOP because of his ability to help or hinder fund raising. IOW it seems like McConnell has a ton of leverage over someone like Murkowski and she wouldn't have done that if she thought it would anger him. And I've seen no sign he is angry with her.

Occam's razor suggests that McConnell wanted Obamacare repeal to fail. Now we've suddenly got Johnson seemingly coming out of nowhere to announce his opposition. Will he suffer any repercussions? If not, that would speak volumes.

I'm at the point where I think conservatives have to work to defeat McConnell in 2020, even if a conservative challenge fails in the primaries. IOW conservatives should openly campaign and vote for the Democrat. The loss of a seat would be worth it to finally get rid of him. And if his replacement is just as bad, then do the same thing to him. Eventually enough of the closet Democrats will be purged that the GOP will actually become a conservative party.

Hence my tag line:

Exactly... and they always pick someone who's not up for reelection any time soon to play the role.
