Fired-up Fox Valley veterans burn Bears, Packers jerseys in protest
Chicago Tribune ^ | 11/12/17 | Denise Crosby

Neither rain nor sleet nor a storied football rivalry could keep an angry group of local patriots from turning out on a dank Sunday afternoon during the Bears/Packers game to burn their football jerseys in protest of the way NFL owners have responded to the long-simmering national anthem controversy.

Not only did some of these passionate veterans, ranging in age from mid-30s to upper-80s, toss their once beloved jerseys into a metal pit set ablaze near a pond on Aurora's West Side, the charred remains were to be gathered up and mailed to the owners of the teams represented as a way to remind them of how angry some former fans have become.

I first learned about how upset local vets were about this controversy after meeting about a dozen of them last month. Joe Toma, who helped organize the jersey burning, had sent scathing letters to NFL officials expressing disgust because owners were allowing players to use their workplace — NFL games — "to dis the American flag."

I don’t believe that this will register with the owners until they start selling season tickets NEXT season. And it will be too late.

Hundreds of senior management bought out at NFL ... mostly at Films.

They must stay on until after super bowl and stay silent. If they discuss publicly they risk losing the package and get nothing.

Not a single football game has been on the television here since what’s his name took a knee.

Not one.

Another big indicator is the Christmas shopping. How many grandparents buy NFL team onesies for their grandchildren? Husbands who buy their wives pink jerseys and hats, and wives who buy their husbands team accessories for their man caves?

I predict holiday sales of NFL merchandise will be lower than that of last year's.

Bears players should, if they have the guts, take a drive with a Chicago police officer in a squad car to see what is actually happening in the minority neighborhoods of the city . Who is killing Black folks? I can tell you who it isn't

1. Not the police

2. Not the KKK

3. Not Nazis

4.Not White Supremacists

5. Not Donald Trump

So who is it? Could it be the thugs of the neighborhood, Drug Dealers, MS13 dreamers hired by Drug Dealers as enforcer?

Take your head out of your Asses and figure it out. Then thank the Chicago Police Force and the Officer you are riding with for their service.

Were it not for the men and women of law enforcement, the situation would 10x worst than it is.

It’s a shame because the left wants to destroy every American institution. They will win either way.

When I lived briefly in Charleston, Illinois I did notice that the surrounding counties were good conservative places. But I was still shocked to see that the every-town monument to the Confederate soldier was actually to a Yankee soldier. But near it was a historical marker describing Civil War anti-draft riots.

we here sure won’t buy ANY season or even regular tickets, as far as we are concerned the NFL has seriously-dissed USA and us as their fans and customers, patrons

we will never give one red cent to NFL!

NFL can go F itself!

Did the NFL players kneel for the anthem ON Veteran’s day?

“Over a quarter million people have joined a Facebook group vowing to boycott the NFL this weekend — which included Veteran’s Day — over the ongoing national anthem protests among the players.

A Facebook page, Boycott the NFL, has more than 250,000 follows from people who have vowed to boycott the NFL. Those who support the page have promised to protest the NFL today.”

Thanks Libloather. Pathetically enough, both teams are shown as "still alive" for the playoffs on the CBS Sports site. In fact, so are the winless Browns and the one-win 49ers.
