We’re no longer building freeways cuz of funding shortfalls and red tape.

Lets build THE WALL first, then worry about the infrastructure.

The place has already been ruined by an uncontrolled tourist industry. Guess a new freeway won’t make much of a difference.

Feds offer $200 billion. Fed money usually only counts toward 86.5% of eligible project costs with the state or locals picking up the remaining 13.5%, so total package is $231+billion. I do public infrastructure for a living and have no idea how they plan on getting public and private sector to kick in $1 trillion.

Fund the highway by devoting 100% of gas tax revenue to road projects instead of siphoning it off to fund mass transit, bike paths, and parkland.

Another alternative is for North Carolina and South Carolina to jointly fund the road if they truly believe its economic benefits be greater than the cost.

A third solution is to build a toll road funded 100% with private money.
