Definition of a tax credit: unearned taxpayer-provided free grub.
Tesla elite left wingers can just pay full price for their eco toys.
“I have a neighbor who bragged about getting the subsidies for his two top-line Teslas. He is a trust fund baby who inherited a $500 million business from his daddy.”
You just described most of the Tesla owners we know.
Of course everyone is also, an elite left winger!
YES! We don’t need no stinkin electric cars.
“Im thinking the future of transportation might be regional bus companies. GoBus is giving it a try.”
IF they would get rid of all the stupid regulations, for city driving, cars could be replaced with UTV’s like a Kawasaki Mule or John Deere Gator.
They will go 100 miles on less than 3 gal of gas and will fit in a 4’x8’ parking space. They will fit 2 people.
I don’t mind if electric vehicle makers come up with versions at price points that are attractive to buyers. If so, we should applaud them for their ingenuity and entrepreneurship - that’s the American way. I just hate the idea of government trying to pick winners and losers using the tax and subsidy system.
Solyndra anyone?
Fuel cells are the way to go....but will take a few more years.
All of them
Exactly. The Tesla neighbor's wife took her son to the Pussy Hat march in January
Poor abused child!
I read a headline today (can't find it but I did read it) saying Tesla is dropping and cutting back on production and their stock started tanking yesterday after the tax reform bill was released.
My Orthopedic Surgeon has a Tesla.
I really love that doctor as he did total replacements on both of my knees and it was perfect, but each knee surgery cost $35,000. I guess a small portion went to his car. I'll give him a bit of a break because he did have to go through heck and spend a lot of money to become a fantastic surgeon.
Will start the phaseout after a cumulative 200,000 units are sold. The credit is reduced 50% for the next two quarters, and then cut another 50% for a final two quarters before full retirement.

Excellent! I recently read a rave review of an electric minivan, saying it compared very favorably with a conventional minivan of equal price. I would have to listen to reason, if that were the truth - but with the government putting its big toe on the scale, who could be sure???Eliminate the subsidy, and the price will tell the tale. Then, figures wont lie. If you know to ask the question about how frequently the batteries have to be replaced, of course . . .
