Washington (CNN) — A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.
Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.
It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.
Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.
The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.
CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. No matter what Mueller does, no matter who he indicts, he looks incredibly corrupt at this point (except to the ANTIFA, BLM, MSM crowd who could care the less of how Trump is taken down as long as he is). He especially looks corrupt in light of a week of news that paints him as a compromised public official.
It would be one thing if the dossier and uranium matters were the stuff of blogs, but when the NeverTrump Wall Street Journal calls Mueller’s resignation, that is something else. Next week we will have dueling banjos. Mueller, the meat puppet of HRC, Obama and the Deep State will have his indictments and on the other side the documents from the FBI and Fusion GPS will be hitting the shelves.
But whatever Mueller tries, he can’t escape his own stench at this point. It was a deliberate and purposeful act to leak information about a sealed indictment. It looks bafoonish that it would happen at such a time. Follow the beneficiaries of his actions and he is at the top of the list.
This is a coup d’etat we are witnessing. They meant it to go much slower than this but once the uranium and dossier stories hit, Mueller had to speed up his time line. The Cold Civil War could be heating up sooner rather than later.

LOL... truth be told I’ve seen ONE hog up here on the Llano Estacado aka the staked plains. I’m out almost everyday or night using thermal and night vision on coyotes but rarely see a feral hog unless I go to the bottom of the panhandle where there is more cover for em versus CRP grass, milo, wheat, cotton or soybeans.

If the Media knew the name and it was damaging to the Democrats, they'd delay releasing the name as long as possible.

I think Montfort is a Clinton plant also. I really think that Hillary picked trump to be the person she ran against out of the republican line up of 17 primary candidates. she instructed her minions to ask softball questions, had her friends at Saturday night live invite him to be on the show. contacted Manafort to be his campaign adviser. Hillary thought that she could destroy trump and did not realize she had underestimated trump till about a month before Manaforte quit the campaign(fired politely). it was then that she just thought trump was going to be a little harder then she thought originaly but she would still win.
