Japan’s defense minister said the threat posed by North Korea has grown to an “unprecedented, critical and imminent level,” reflecting a rising sense of urgency over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program.

Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera told counterparts from South Korea and the U.S. at a gathering of defense ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations here that Japan supports the American position that “all options are on the table”-

>>Kimbo is doing exactly what his ChiCom masters want him to do. Think about that.<<

You could be right, but if so it would mean that the Chinese are just as insane as Rocket Man, and that doesn’t seem to true. Why would China want nuclear war with the country that buys almost everything they produce? Not likely.

It has been an open secret in DC for years that Japan has nuclear weapons. Probably about a dozen or two.

The took all their breeder reactors offline in 2016, but easily had plenty of Pu by then.

Fissionable weapon design is so well known that there is really no need to test these days.

The only question is, what will we do when Detroit gets The Bomb?

>>So, what are they going to do about it, develop nukes and missiles as well? Or do they expect the USA to fight their battles for them?<<

I could be mistaken, but I think Japan has remained a non-nuclear country by virtue of a treaty or some such agreement with its western allies.

China and Russia intend to dominate. The Korean War of the ‘50s was fought against China and Russia in Korea. Probably better dealt with now than later, but decide as you wish.

"The only question is, what will we do when Detroit gets The Bomb?"

I don't know. But some people will probably clean the place up, rebuild it and manufacture something.

"So, what are they going to do about it, develop nukes and missiles as well?"

Might not be much time for that.

"Or do they expect the USA to fight their battles for them?"

That's pretty much the deal made around 65 years ago, give or take. And the Japanese always kept their end of the deal. So I reckon that if worse comes to worst, our boys and girls in the U.S. military are gonna have to kill somethin' for the sake of keepin' our end. Looks like our forefathers left us with the curse of not turnin' into post-WW2 scumbags in every way.

NK would be a burden for South Korea (at least initially).

What I heard from some South Koreans when I visited last year is that they would accept unification, but are not clamoring for it. They saw the problems that Germany has had following its reunification, and think that their reunification problems will be even bigger, since the two parts of Korea have been separated for much longer.

I have such empathy and respect for the South Koreans. They live with a kook just a few miles away. North Korea has never stopped trying to attack South Korea by one means or another.

Japan has extensive space launch experience. They also have weapons grade expertise. Sent over 300 kG special grade to Savannah last year. Have over ten tons separated Pu in inventory, and 40 tons in MOX fuel processing.

The have not been part of the club as a political choice, up to this moment.

Japan wants NK to be ashes.

I feel bad for the millions of NKs living like animals because many may die.

But imagine the horror on the survivors’ faces when they see what has taken place in the outside world the past 60 years.
