O’Reilly Settled New Harassment Claims, Then Fox Renewed His Contract
New York Times ^ | October 21, 2017 | EMILY STEEL and MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT

Posted on 10/21/2017 10:57:43 AM PDT by be-baw

Last January, six months after Fox News ousted its chairman amid a sexual harassment scandal, the network’s top-rated host at the time, Bill O’Reilly, struck a $32 million agreement with a longtime network analyst to settle new sexual harassment allegations, according to two people briefed on the matter — an extraordinarily large amount for such cases.

Although the deal has not been previously made public, the network’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, acknowledges that it was aware of the woman’s complaints about Mr. O’Reilly. They included allegations of repeated harassment, a nonconsensual sexual relationship and the sending of gay pornography and other sexually explicit material to her, according to the people briefed on the matter.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if this story was a deliberate fake peddled to the NYT by Project Veritas?

This. Hannity is a nice, normal American male who is decent to women and men in his employ. He would not consider masturbating with a vibrator while speaking on the phone to his female employees. O’Reilly has been recorded doing this and talking dirty during it, and had to pay up.

how is a grown woman in a nonconsensual sexual relationship?

She was hired to come in or stay late to his office and he grabs her, etc. Many ways for a normal professional woman to be a victim of unwanted sex attack.

This is also the NY Times. I’d wait for a credible, true news source before forming an opinion.

There is no reason to bring politics into this. We all know there are rapists and pervs on both sides of the aisle. In fact, the best way to separate sex crimes from being political is to not stick up for rape if “our guy” does it.

It is NOT OK to assault people sexually no matter how they donate or vote.

True. My comment on that settlement amount is based on the NYT story being accurate. Which it might not be.

The word used wasn’t “attack” but “relationship.”

The article says O’Reilly paid Lis Wiehl $32 million. She was his co-host on his radio show years ago, & I heard him ask her to take off her blouse. That was after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident.

And yet where are the details.

I read the Andrea Tantaros suit against Ailes, and asking a woman to turn around when you are in the TV biz is a long stretch to millions of dollars. These are not the physical attacks that you see with Clinton or Weinstein. They know Fox pays. Even Gretchens suit showed no physical type of display beside hugging.
They love comparing this to Weinstein but it is not in the same class

Not defending oreilley but I need to see facts. Julie Roginsky and Andrew Tantaros lawsuits looked like bullshit money grabs to me. You can read them.

Fox pays, so you will get more of this.

Same way they dredged up the fake news Jefferson/Hemmings lie, during Clinton/Lewinsky.

Re: the Jefferson study:

https://www.tjheritage.org/scholars-challenge-jeffersonhemings-allegations/

For those interested a (long) report by David N. Mayer, who was one of the 13 scholars in The Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society study. His report was subsequently scrubbed from the website.

https://tomjefferson1976.wordpress.com/2015/11/28/the-thomas-jefferson-sally-hemings-myth-and-the-politicization-of-american-history-by-david-n-mayer/

“Obviously a large number of people, for various reasons, passionately want to believe that Thomas Jefferson fathered Sally Hemings’ children. These include some of the descendants of two of Sally Hemings’ children who passionately want their families’ oral traditions—and for many of them and their supporters, their places in American history—somehow validated by widespread acceptance of the Jefferson paternity thesis as historical fact. But it is not the role of historians to make people feel good about themselves or their family stories; “feel-good” history is not good history. It is, rather, the role of historians to explain the past as best they can, by following objective methodology and the evidence. However upsetting this conclusion may be to many people, again for a wide variety of reasons, it is simply the case that no credible evidence has proven that Thomas Jefferson fathered any of Sally Hemings’ children.”

Bill O’Reilly never ever had real actual vaginal sex with any of these gals but still paid out tens of millions along with Fox News paying out tens of millions to keep them quiet. What a scam. I bet most of Bill’s women kept diaries as they planned to bring lawsuits. They loved each harassment incident as they transcribed it into their diaries kept for lawsuit purposes.

Meanwhile ol Harvey Weinstein paid out a total of a million dollars tops and did have vaginal sex (forget stupid blow jobs!) with some of the women he he promised to give acting jobs to. Sure he played games of exposing himself to young actresses but he was scoring with some of them Maybe most of the young actresses in Miramax movies are ones Harvey has boffed.

You are correct!

The real hell of it is the media lies about conservatives all the time. We really do not know what is true and what is not.

why is it that I cant see O’riely sending out gay porn. to harass some one.

The explanation, buried deep in the article, is that:

Lis Weihl was acting as an attorney for O'Reilly from time to time.

O'Reilly, like many at FoxNews, often was the target of hate mail and nasty email.

He set up a system where he could forward it to his attorneys to see if they should take action.

Sometimes the emails contained lewd imagery, which is not at all hard for us who use the internet to imagine.

Weihl received some of this imagery, and apparently a misunderstanding ensued.

Why that should result in her receiving a large payout, I do not understand, if the above explanation is substantially true.

The Slimes may just be artfully phrasing it to slur O’Reilly himself as homosexual/bisexual.
Or they may just be straight out lying again.

I tend to believe the latter. Isn't the motto of the Slimes now "All the gossip that's fit to spread"?
