Gold Star mother Karen Vaughn lost her son, Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn, after his Chinook helicopter was shot down on August 6, 2011 in Afghanistan. All 38 people on board were killed. Seventeen Navy SEALs died, making it the worst day for casualties in SEAL Team Six history.
I've had the honor of getting to know Karen a little bit over the years. I've seen her talk about the excruciating, broken and tear filled flight she took to receive Aaron's body when he came home for the final time.
During an interview on Fox Business Thursday, Karen gave reaction to remarks from General John Kelly at the White House, where he described what happens when a soldier dies on the battlefield and asked the press to keep Gold Star families sacred.
She called his remarks beautiful and expressed gratitude to Kelly for bringing those who were listening back to reality.

This is Aaron's grave in Arlington Cemetery.
If you missed Kelly's remarks yesterday at the White House, you can view them in full below. Every American should listen to what he had to say.

We are reduced to this because the media and dems have now politicized Presidential condolence calls. This is so disgusting. There is nothing they won’t stoop to.
They will stop when the millions of trump supporters, the real Americans take to the streets in protest of them attempting to take our vote and election away from us
I hate progressives of every stripe. Doom on them.
Bump to the Top
Kick Juan McAmnesty out of the party, known traitor, he’s VC to the core ...
placemark.
Went to Arlington in 2014 for the first time. Seeing the Changing of the Guard, the row after row at Arlington and seeing my friend's names on The Wall was a very moving experience.
Glad to hear Kelly’s words helped her. It took the computer/ hi tech age plus a few Spec Ops Association reunions in Vegas to find out the phone number of the mother of one of 1LT’s I got who was KIA in Apr 69. 1LT Gregory Harrigan was one fine young officer. He was shot through the chest and said -”I will call in an direct air support as long as I can.” He did just that and more knowing he was dying. I finally had the privilege to tell his mother about him in 2003 or so. His sister had contacted me via email. I told her about another incident in which he ran through incoming with me as we had 5 dead and wounded montagnards. These punks in the NFL are pure trash next to these men who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Art, TY for the heads up. I am always reminded of the families of those we lost. Sometimes it is the smallest things they did or just how they were around the guys that their family likes to hear. I feel it is very hard for those who were not actually out on combat OPS walking through wait a minute vines complete with vine snakes occasionally, wet areas with leeches, elephant grass, differing terrain plus snakes like bamboo vipers and the baboons/apes plus scorpions and centipedes etc., to picture a day in the bush. I always tried to tell the family the things I really liked about how he learned and performed his duties. Also the respect that we had for the man. I can honestly state the men we lost were outstanding men.
That might not be necessary, the devil might take him soon enough. Who knows
Dead ‘Rat walkin ...
The details you conveyed to family are heart rendering. Thank You for doing that and Thank You for your service. Above and beyond. . and Yes, . . the men we lost were outstanding men.
Dont expect her to be interviewed on PMSNBC or the Clinton News Network any time soon.
bttt
Thanks for posting the link to the Kelly press conference. First time I’ve heard it. He totally nailed it.
General Kelly, at 8:10: ". . You know, when I was a kid growing up, a lot of things were sacred in our country, Women were sacred and were looked upon with great honor, that's obviously not the case anymore, Life, the dignity of life, was sacred, that's gone, Religion, that seems to be gone as well, Gold Star Families, I think that left during the convention last summer. . ." Nailed it.
Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. There are so things the media and dems won’t stoop to. They won’t bend over and kiss their own a$$es, or felate themselves, because that would throw their backs out.
