Worker warned hotel before Las Vegas shooter opened fire on crowd
CBSnews ^ | 10-11-2017 | CBS/AP

A maintenance worker said Wednesday he told hotel dispatchers to call police and report a gunman had opened fire with a rifle inside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino hotel before the shooter began firing from his high-rise suite into a crowd at a nearby musical performance.

The revised timeline has renewed questions about whether better communication might have allowed police to respond more quickly and take out the gunman before he committed the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Worker Stephen Schuck says he was checking out a report of a jammed fire door on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay when he heard gunshots and a hotel security guard, who had been shot in the leg, peeked out from an alcove and told him to take cover.

"As soon as I started to go to a door to my left the rounds started coming down the hallway," Schuck said. "I could feel them pass right behind my head.

"It was kind of relentless so I called over the radio what was going on," he said. "As soon as the shooting stopped we made our way down the hallway and took cover again and then the shooting started again."

I wonder where Mandalay security fits in the picture. They have armed guards. They were not able to get to the 32nd floor in a matter of minutes?

There have been two different versions of this story in the mefia.

One says that Campos was responding to a door alarm on a guest room.

The other says that the alarm was related to emergency exit stairwell.

This is an important detail that needs to be nailed down.

Mandalay Bay is toast if they hesitated more than a second to call authorities. The location of the shooter would probably have been identified quickly as the police were getting to the premises.

I would think a minimum number of guards would stay near the gamut and in the casino where there could be a couple of thousand people and millions of dollars.

Do you have a bigger picture that would show where the main elevator bank, the service elevator and the stairwell would be?

I hope you can make out the basic floor plan from this picture. The stairwell is right next to Paddock's endcap suite. You can see why it was important to him to jam that door and prevent LEO ingress.

The elevators are in the center of the floor where the three arms of the hotel meet. If Paddock could prevent LEO from coming in the stairwell, they would have to come down that super long hallway. That hallway could have turned into a couple hundred feet of killzone.

I would think more than one or two armed guards might be curious about one of their coworkers being shot. The most important question I suppose is did Mandalay call the police immediately.

Was talking with two former students who are now on our local sheriff department. Conversation included
1. They know lots more than they are saying
2. Both thought LEO may have been investigating a large crime and shooter realized they were moving in on him. (Motive to end it all with revenge). The NV/FBI hesitate saying too much so that others involved will not be tipped off

Both have college degrees in law enforcement and were raised with good common sense. I discussed my human trafficking/ sexual trade theory and they both offered known facts that would support that possibility.

We all felt that shooter had connections with mob or cartel or Foreign thugs

Eventually material may come out but only when a major bust is successfully complete

Ok. Forget about the body of the article for a second and play the embedded video that is proportedly the shooter’s galpal. Has this video made it to the cops? Can anyone translate what she is saying in between her pow-pows? My headphones aren’t that good.

Paddock had a lot of money, and from what I’ve read from people who know about gambling (a foreign world to me), no one makes millions of dollars gambling.

yup. and Campos was by the elevator, but he was fired on in the stairwell with a screwedshut/jammed/ajar door, but he was in a room by the elevator when the maintenance guy came by the elevator to go up the hall towards the stairway, or something like that. These people are all over the place.

Oh, and the maintenance guy didn’t see any shots coming thru the door he thought they were coming thru the peephole. And both the maintenance guy and the security guy used their keys to get in rooms and used their radios to call base, but didn’t use the phone to dial 911

aye yi yi

YES The casinos cut you off if you start winning too much. He would have never won $5 million unless the casinos were in on a money laundering scam!

I still believe Comrade Hellry was involved in the decision to burn the compound and Reno was her fall guy.

Why didn’t the janitor call 911?
Maybe it was hotel procedure?

And the police went up on foot, as orders had been given to disable the elevators. At least that’s what some reports say.
