In early September, Charlie Dent, Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania and co-chair of the moderate Tuesday Group, Charlie Dent suddenly announced he was retiring from the House after seven terms in office.
So what. Whats the big deal? Well, its apparently a big deal to many particularly it seems to publications on the left like The Atlantic. Yesterday, The Atlantic wrote a piece entitled, Who Will Lead the Republican Moderates? lamenting the exit next year of representative Dent.
You see, Dent is the current leader of the moderate wing of the Republican Party in Congress. So of course its a big deal to the left, for as we know, moderate Republicans are the only reasonable people in the GOP. And hes not the only squish high-tailing it out of town. Representatives Dave Trott of Michigan, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida, Dave Reichert of Washington, John J. Duncan Jr. of Tennessee, Lynn Jenkins of Kansas and Sam Johnson of Texas are all packing it in.
Now if you are a Republican, you may think this terrible news that so many Republicans are leaving, until you dig just a bit deeper. And these days, it doesnt take much digging. Conservative Reviews Liberty Score is a one-stop shop for a quick accounting of the above seven.

Only a pitiful few are exiting.
moderate republican : Stark raving mad Leftist who sides with Democrats more than their own president, Trump.
We know what they’re terrified of.
They have reason to be.
2018 will be the year of the incumbent Republican slaughter at the primary polling booth.
While on an individual basis what might concern me is not that some squishy GOPer is not running again, but what is the political state of things in their district, and is the district itself “squishy”, politically, and some more Conservative GOPer could wind up behind some Dim in the general election. Yes, that can be a concern, if we knew each district well enough to know some districts where that might be an issue.
Good riddance, but over the next year plus, will he go McCain and effectively caucus Democrat?
Why don’t they just call themselves democrats and be done with the games?
Good riddance and may the list grow much longer.
Moderate Republican = Democrat
RINOs are quitting rather than face humiliating public vaporization in the primaries!
“Who will lead the Republican moderates?”
Why the Democrats will, of course, just like they always have.
And that would be different how?...............
Charlie Dent, Arthur’s brother?
Arizona will ‘azexit’ Jeff Flake the old fashioned way, via votes for Kelli Ward!!!!!
I’ll take what I can get, in this case.
Every RINO gone (doesn’t matter how) helps.
To the extent that it makes the rest stop raising their heads in the political Wak-a-mole game it’ll be good.
WAKing them, I mean seriously! /s
don’t be rude, kill them with kindness. LOL
Functionally, not different at all.
Statistically significant as an age outlier. Used in the same sense as the overused “storm of the century.”
