Washington (CNN) - A poll this week showed Democrat Ralph Northam with a 13-point lead over Republican Ed Gillespie in Virginia's race for governor.
Time for Republicans to make an all-out bid to win over moderates who are still on the fence, right? Wrong.
President Donald Trump waded into the race for the first time Thursday night on Twitter with a message aimed squarely at the party's conservative base. Trump tweeted: "Ralph Northam,who is running for Governor of Virginia,is fighting for the violent MS-13 killer gangs & sanctuary cities. Vote Ed Gillespie!"
The President was parroting an attack that has played on repeat for weeks on Washington and Richmond TV stations. The ads have featured menacing-looking figures purported to be part of the MS-13 gangs and have prominently displayed the gang's "Kill, Rape, Control" motto.

Excellent. If CNN hates it, then it must be an effective line of attack.
The problem is that Gillespie is a Cheap Labor Express stooge who is not credible on illegal aliens.
Previously he supported amnesty for them.
Now he’s only talking about the criminal element within the illegal alien population to get elected.
I’m sick of having Democrat Governors, but Gillespie is the wrong candidate.
If he gets elected, he’ll be backing any new amnesties, for DACA and more.
yup- GOPe... the same GOPe who turned their back on Ken Cuccinelli who could’ve won the 2013 race handily...

He must have visited Winchester, at some point.
The only way to prevent a Northam-Herring win is for people like you and me to vote for Gillespie. I am not fond of him, but Northam will out-McAwful McAwful, and Herring should not be anywhere near being able to decide which laws should be obeyed and how to “interpret” others. Virginia will quickly become just another Dem-decimated state.
You have to vote for Gillespie, and you have to convince all the Corey Stewart backers you know to vote, too. It’s that starkly important.
