Make no mistake: Bobby Jindal is far and away the best choice to replace Tom Price as secretary of Health and Human Services. Dan McLaughlin at NRO and Steve Berman at The Resurgent both made the case earlier this week for why President Trump would be wise to pick Jindal, whose health-care policy chops and general seriousness about good governance are undisputed.
Berman notes that, among all the other candidates floated recently by Axios and Politico, Jindal is the best qualified person to run HHS, to craft health care policy, to shepherd legislation through Congress, and to speak intelligently on the topic without igniting a firestorm. Put more succinctly, Jindal will not become a bigger story than Trump, and can hand Trump a win.
McLaughlin agrees that Jindal would be an excellent choice, but questions whether this would be a wise choice for Jindal himself, who is for the first time in his professional life enjoying the fruits of the private sector and generally keeping a low profile. Whats more, Jindal isnt exactly a Trump fan. Recall that the former Louisiana governor was among the first and fiercest critics of Trump during the 2016 election, calling him an egomaniacal madman and a non-serious carnival act, among other things.

What’s Jindal’s experience with Healthcare policy?
Not sure, but that was his forte here in Louisiana, before he was governor.
It’s at the point now that if you can make a sentence with a subject and predicate... you are a vast improvement over the clowns who wrote the legislation and force-fed it to the American people... AND the other clowns who said they would repeal it and have not done so!!
“Dan McLaughlin at NRO”
Stopped right there.
“...best chance at obamacare repeal”?
The best chance would be the early death of america’s traitor, John McCain.
Early on Jindal was the one I supported until he bit the dust. I lost some respect for him when he, like so many others, just HAD to take a parting shot at DJT during the campaign.
No reason whatsoever for doing that, except to pander to the true deplorables, namely, the Republican Establishment.
Still, Jindal could probably contribute significantly to the Trump Presidency.
No thanks. Jindhal hated Trump and always will.
If congress has shown us anything over the last six months it is this:
Repeal will never pass unless its watered down enough that its no longer repeal at all.
I’m a Never Jindal.
Robert E. Moffit for HHS!
how many senate votes does the secretary of HHS have?
“Make no mistake: Bobby Jindal is far and away the best choice to replace Tom Price as secretary of Health and Human Services.”
Not too many people in Louisiana would agree with that, I can tell you. It makes me laugh. And, I had to put up with him for eight years and would not like to go through that again.
Jindal ran the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and was Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services for Planning and Evaluation under GW Bush.
He’s a fine choice for the job.
But make no mistake, gaining 5 or 6 Senate seats next year is Trump’s best chance at Osamacare repeal. Might be the President and Secretary of HHS can do some things on their own but I doubt it would be enough.
