What women in Saudi Arabia cannot do:
-- Marry, divorce, travel, get a job or have elective surgery without permission from their male guardians. Women still are beholden to restrictive guardianship lawsthat govern nearly every aspect of their lives. In cases where a woman's father is deceased or absent, her husband, a male relative, brother, or in some cases, even a son, must give his approval before a woman can obtain often basic entitlements.
-- Mix freely with members of the opposite sex. Some exceptions include hospitals, banks and medical colleges. In 2013 authorities ordered shops that employ both men and women to build "separation walls" to enforce rules preventing the sexes from mixing together.

I’ve seen pictures of “gender apartheid” from Saudi. I can’t find them now, but have seen how places such as Starbucks had a separate female section.
Imagine the rights of the non-Saudi slaves in SA...
I’ve had some discussions with some people, and they say that Christianity doesn’t give equal rights to women. I’m no Bible scholar, so can’t say, but these people claim that the Bible indicates that women are to be helpmates or underlings to their husbands, etc. and their conclusion is that Christianity places women in a 2nd class status, as Islam does.
I’m not sure I follow the “moral equivalency” here, but that’s what I was told. Again, I’m no Bible scholar so can’t say anything with authority about what Scripture says about the place of women.
But now they can be the taxi driver for their smelly menfolk. Yup, you’ve come a long way baby.

Not quite so. Paraphrasing it says “wives submit to husbands, husbands submit to wives.....” since in those days wives were property the only one called on to change is the husband. similar language re sons, fathers, slaves and masters follows.

I’m not so sure about that. If we didn’t have all of the Old testament’s prophecies we wouldn’t have known who the Christ was is. And other predicted events that have happened.

I wasn’t planning to write a book on that statement. yes. the old testament is a historical record though it’s not part of the belief other then the 10 commandments.
