I’ve had some discussions with some people, and they say that Christianity doesn’t give equal rights to women. I’m no Bible scholar, so can’t say, but these people claim that the Bible indicates that women are to be helpmates or underlings to their husbands, etc. and their conclusion is that Christianity places women in a 2nd class status, as Islam does.

I’m not sure I follow the “moral equivalency” here, but that’s what I was told. Again, I’m no Bible scholar so can’t say anything with authority about what Scripture says about the place of women.

Not quite so. Paraphrasing it says “wives submit to husbands, husbands submit to wives.....” since in those days wives were property the only one called on to change is the husband. similar language re sons, fathers, slaves and masters follows.

9 times out of 10 they will site the old testament which Christianity isn’t based on other then the 10 commandments.
