[ There is no reason for the Iraqi’s for force them to stay. Iraq is an artificial legal entity by foreign powers, i.e. the League of Nations in 1920. The Kurds have every much a right to self-determination as the former parts of Yugoslavia. ]

Agree, the Kurds are a separate cultural entity that should have their own state, the league of nations meddling needs to be undone, I have no good words for woodrow wilson and his meddling legacy that caused WW-II and a number of issues in the middle east to this very day.

Mois? I support Kurd independence 100%, and only hope the movement spreads to Iran, Turkey, Syria and whatever parts of the former Soviet Union has Kurd enclaves. I’m a pan-non-Arabist, and also want independence for Balluchis, Akhwazis, Allawites, Zoroastrians, Bahais and eastern Christians. These are Israel’s potential allies, along with Greeks, Armenians, South Sudanese, and best of all, India. At the very least, it will chop up the Arab/Muslim sea into pieces. It’s called EMA (Eastern Minorities Alliance) and it’s coming on as surely as autumn follows summer, and spring follows winter. This Kurd referendum is yet another leaf falling from the Sunni/Arabian tree, and yet another bud of life after the storms and blizzards of the Arab Winter.

They want multiculturalism and self-determination for oppressed peoples? They’ll get more than they bargained for, these leftists.

Know most of your citations, but not Balluchis, Akhwazis. Our ex-President's Arab Spring aside, sticking a broomstick up a dictators whatever isn't much, you make an interesting point about self determination. In the region of nations a bit older than we were in 1775. There could well be a reorganization of the region underway. What it means in the world order, particularly economic, don't know if we exclude Israel.

The Brits screwed up when they set borders with no mind to tribal differences.

Referendum was on Monday, Sept. 25 and results were just announced today on Wed., Sept. 27.

Yeah, I don’t know why it has been ignored on FR but it is pretty big news. This could dramatically change the history of the region. Mods don’t think so, though, this thread was knocked off of “Breaking News” by someone.

Balluchis are an Iranian minority. Akhwazis are Arabs, and they are sitting on the Iranian oil fields, the Iranians know it, and treat them like dog sh!t, suppressing their language and culture, polluting their environment. This is a golden opportunity to take down Iran.

Israel, if it’s smart, will be in the middle of this regional reorganization, tweaking it quietly but effectively from the sidelines. I think that that is exactly what the government is doing. Trump, if he is smart, will help and encourage this.

Iraq will suspend flights into the Kurd region airport tomorrow.

Also saw an article about shiite southern iraqis painting the Israeli and US flags on the street and dancing on them in disrespect.
