As part of a wave of protests throughout the NFL in the wake of President Donald Trump's NFL-related comments, the Steelers will not be on the field for the playing of the national anthem before their game against the Bears on Sunday.

Coach Mike Tomlin told CBS his team would remain in the locker room for the playing of the Star-Spangled Banner.

I like your insight. This dysfunction and toxicity is radioactive fallout from ObamaNation. I think soon, this too will pass and change towards better things.

But we’re not where we are because of the Muslims or someone else. We’re where we are because somehow we’ve let the Delusional Lying Left take our country to the brink, Obama giving the last big shove to the brink.

Our destiny is in OUR hands, not in the Muslim’s hands. We the People must stand up as we did to elect Trump and begin re-commandeering our country and recover our Free Constitutional Republic.

Virtually every SJW impulse currently inflicting the NFL has come from the Steelers who falsely posture as a middle America organization. The Rooneys are left wing lunatics IMHO.

It’s not so slowly...

Btw, I grew up in Chicago and my dad had Bears season tickets. This move will NOT go over well with Chicagoans. Or most Americans.

You mean the Chicago people who keep voting for people like Tiny Dancer? I don't think so. Sorry, the Chicagoans you are thinking of moved out years ago. What's left behind in the city seem quite content to have record numbers of young black people shot every week to go along with the traditional corruption.

Even you moved to Canada. I just moved out of the metro area, but still in Illinois. I go back to visit every now and then, but the idea of living there just does not fly.

“Not sure of that. The left must be ecstatic this morning that two of their foes (The NFL and flag-loving conservatives) are attacking each other. How is the left not winning this?”

You are making a fundamental error in thinking that the NFL are a foe of the Left. The NFL owners are elitist billionaires who are mostly leftists themselves (as nearly all of the very rich in America are). They’ve hired a millionaire Leftist, Goodell, to be their commissioner. The players are mostly black...and are often millionaires themselves. The coaches are there to keep their rosters - again over 70% black - functioning as a single unit. They do as they are told and will, thus, support the leftist bent of this big industry. Flag Loving Conservatives will walk away...I’m a lifelong sports fan...I’m walking away today from NFL football, and won’t come back untill they permanently change.

I prefer the Jerry Jones order to stand for the Anthem or get fired.

It’s easy to forget that before the merger, the NFL took a huge back seat to college football, and certainly baseball was still by far the most popular of professional sports.

Looks like were going “Back to the Future.”

The most highly-privileged people in the country are $hitting on it. They get many times more money than me. $hit on them. No more NFL for me.

Trump is not opposed to free speech. He is being roasted for speaking freely. The Leftists are the ones who bring politics onto the football field. Where are these libs who say politics should always stop at the waters edge. The National Anthem is that waters edge. There are countless venues on the Internet and media for players to espouse there own opinions. Simple respect for our country, while standing at attention for a minute and half at the most is not too much to ask. Do it for your country, your teammates, your fans, and the troops.

Maybe Villanueva needs to find another team. Supports the Anthem. Three tours in Afghanistan as a Ranger.

If the Steelers can’t be on the field with their hands over their hearts when the music starts, they’re choosing to side with the America haters.

“Losing My Religion”

Oh life, it’s bigger
It’s bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I set it up

That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don’t know if I can do it
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I haven’t said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

Every whisper
Of every waking hour
I’m choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I set it up

Consider this
Consider this, the hint of the century
Consider this, the slip
That brought me to my knees, failed
What if all these fantasies come
Flailing around
Now I’ve said too much

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
That was just a dream

That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don’t know if I can do it
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I haven’t said enough

I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try

But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try
That was just a dream
Just a dream
Just a dream, dream

America must be losing it’s religion.

Players and the NFL, are playing this up as being a protest against Trump and not against America. I say, it’s against what America stands for.

So, why not the whole country take away that very visible platform that the players are using to insult America?

Let’s do away with the playing of the National Anthem at the beginning of NFL games? And, it other leagues encourage the same behavior by their players, let’s take away that platform too.

The disgusting players lose their platform with the TV audience, and they’ll have to figure out a different venue to carry out their disgusting behavior. They’ll also become the bag guys with the majority of Americans, and the sports sponsors will have to rethink their commercial placements.

The irony of having a “unity ceremony” in the locker room as a form of protesting the Anthem’s innate ceremony of unity is too rich. The notion of these wife beaters, girlfriend abusers, serial impregnating, drunken, gangbanging, murdering, assaulting, gun toting, ‘roid raging prima donnas who can’t control the impulse to destroy the careers of others a la Vontaze Burfict and those of his reckless ilk, protesting violence is too laughable for even a late night talk show joke. It took one actual man, Alejandro Villanueva, whose CV puts theirs to eternal shame, to demonstrate courage and quietly and eloquently shove it down their panty waist throats. And to cloak their cowardice in a prayerful posture is beyond the pale for these mutts who wouldn’t recognize a church if it pounded them from behind.

But most NFL team owners have neither the courage, the principles nor the gratitude for being an American that Jerry Jones has.

A few questions: As the financial hits start to come about (and perhaps a bit of personal introspection begins to take hold), as an NFL team owner who went along publicly with the disrespectful behavior of your employees -- this crap -- what do you do? How do you recover control of your business from the employees who are ruining it? How do you do this without incurring the wrath of the America-hating Left ... if that is even possible or if it even matters?
