Man who predicted world will end on Sept. 23 says nevermind

By Fox News

September 22, 2017 | 4:38pm

he end is still nigh — just not as nigh as it was earlier this week, a Doomsday writer says.

David Meade, who claimed the world is ending Saturday when a mysterious planet collides with Earth, is now backtracking on the calamitous claim.

Meade said the world won’t end on September 23 after all, but instead, Saturday will only mark the beginning of a series of catastrophic events to occur over several weeks.

“The world is not ending, but the world as we know it is ending,” he told the Washington Post. “A major part of the world will not be the same the beginning of October.”

Meade said his prediction is based on verses and numerical codes found in the Bible, specifically in the apocalyptic Book of Revelation. He said recent events, such as the solar eclipse and Hurricanes Irma and Harvey, are omens of the approaching apocalypse.

The significant number is 33, according to Meade.

lol!!!

I will come like a thief in the night and you will not know the hour nor the day are pretty straightforward statements.

Jesus didn’t add any disclaimers with those statements.

And even if i am wrong, since it happens a lot, what good would it do to know?

You’re either a good Christian most of the time or you’re not.

I’ll let God worry about the big things like the end of the world an judging all of us.

If I get in it will be by the skin of my teeth.

Have to worry about that more than the end of the world.

Harold Camping of Family Radio predicted the end of the world several times. “There will be rolling earthquakes in each time zone.” Eventually (after his death) his Family Radio station in Philly was sold to another company, which made it (briefly) conservative talk.

As a stunt, they kept playing REM’s “It’s the End of the World As We Know It”. First line: “That’s great it starts with an earthquake...”

Years ago a book called the People’s Almanac (or was it Book of Lists?) had a list of failed end of the world predictions. Title of that article: Armageddon Outta Here

“The world is not ending, but the world as we know it is ending,” he told the Washington Post.

Why did the Washington Post even give this guy the time of day?

25, 30 years ago, i would have been paying close attention to such ominous claims. Not any more.
It’s better live more fully in the present moment, come what may.

Isn’t that what they always say?

The problem is the nay sayers (the Bible calls them “scoffers”) use these crack-pots to declare we are not in the end times and everything will be as it always has been (2 Pet 3:3-7), putting some to sleep.

People have been profiting from this scare crap as long as there have been humans. It apparently pays well.

“Find out how to survive the Apocalypse! Only 99.95 for my exclusive cassette tapes. And for only 19.95 more you too can sit at the right hand of Jesus. I guarantee it.”
