Paul Manafort Is in Legal Jeopardy. But Trump may not be
National Review ^ | Sept. 20, 2017 | Andrew McCarthy

Posted on 09/20/2017 7:37:56 AM PDT by bitt

We already knew that Paul Manafort was in a heap of trouble. It was almost two months ago — July 26, to be precise — that his Virginia residence was raided by the FBI in the predawn hours.

As I said at the time, prosecutors do not obtain warrants to toss the homes of people they regard as cooperating witnesses. When they are dealing with cooperators, prosecutors politely request that documents be produced, expecting the witness (and his lawyers) to comply. If some coercion is thought necessary, they will issue a grand-jury subpoena — an enforceable directive to produce documents, but one that still allows the witness to hand over the materials, not have them forcibly seized. The execution of a search warrant, even if it goes smoothly, is a show of force. It is intimidating.

That does not sound like admissible evidence, to me.

This is the kind of investigation, ruthless, that the Republicans should be doing to the whole Obama administration from Benghazi to the Iran deal/cash, the caving in to No. Korea, Hillary’s emails and criminal enterprise the Clinton Foundation, any of Valerie Jarrett’s ties to communists or Iranian agents, Susan Rice’s abject lying at the UN and in the media; Robert Malley’s possible illegal ties to the Saddam regime; and the appointment by Obama of several communists as his “czars”, ‘advisors’, etc.

The Democrats play to win. The Republicans play to get a pay check. Guess who loses. The AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Time for an Inquisition of biblical proportions on the Democrats. We won’t need torture to expose them, only the TRUTH. And that, to them, is torture.

A lesson to Americans. Never talk to foreigners. How can you be sure they don’t have any criminal ties? Some special prosecutor may come gunning for you (even if there is no law you have violated).

McCarthy makes a big deal about the time of day the raid took place. I think he is viewing things thru the lens of a normal prosecutor. I think Mueller is an out-of-control prosecutor trying to find ANYTHING he can use to DISCREDIT Trump.

By now, he almost certainly has strong reason to believe Trump did nothing personally wrong. And it is obvious LOTS of governments try to sway elections - like Obama tried to sway Israel’s elections, etc. Happens all the time.

An honest man would disband the special prosecutor and turn over anything involving low-level illegality to normal prosecutors. But then, that would mean Mueller wasn’t “special”.

Well, Manafort has requested ALL findings to be released, so that speaks volumes for him, I think.

Had to look that up...

“Fruit of the poisonous tree is a legal metaphor in the United States used to describe evidence that is obtained illegally. The logic of the terminology is that if the source (the “tree”) of the evidence or evidence itself is tainted, then anything gained (the “fruit”) from it is tainted as well.”—Wikipedia

Manafort will keep his mouth shut about Trump...and if Herr Mueller and his brown shirts railroad him, the President will pardon him.
