Dealing with Democrats? Protecting 'Dreamers'? That's just fine with these Trump supporters
LA Times ^ | 09/15/2017 | Michael Finnegan and Mark Z. Barabak

Donald Trump’s tough talk on illegal immigration was a big part of the reason Dave Hagstrom and many others in this booming Phoenix suburb supported him for president. “Walls make good neighbors,” Hagstrom said.

So when the president moved this week to cut a deal — with Democrats no less — to block the expulsion of 800,000 immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children, was Hagstrom disappointed?

Not at all.

“If you were to deport them, where would they go?” Hagstrom, 60, a car-warranty manager, asked on his way to a Bible-study dinner at an upscale shopping mall. “To send them across the border would be inhumane almost. There’s no life for them there.”

Trump’s fiery rhetoric and promise to seal the U.S. border with Mexico attracted millions of supporters in last year’s election, many of them older white conservatives like the ones who repeatedly elected immigration hard-liner Joe Arpaio as sheriff here in Maricopa County.

But as Trump shifted this week to a softer approach on the young immigrants in legal limbo through no fault of their own, many of his most die-hard supporters moved right along with him — among them Arpaio, who was ousted in November by voters tired of his inflammatory approach.

The most I’m willing to accept is giving a green card to these dreamers & letting them work. No citizenship, no access to gov’t benefits, & they can be deported promptly if they commit a crime. That’s it.

Nice idea. You earn your rights....and then become a citizen as many have in the past.

Great comment.

DACA is an ambush. I have to think that many of so-called Trump supporters (even here on FR) who urge Trump to pick a fight over DACA and other obvious ambushes - are they really supporters, or are they enemy shills?

Marxism is essentially a scam whereby corrupt politicians take advantage of “have nots” in order to justify wealth redistribution in the name of social justice and equality.

But the “have nots” are not the true beneficiaries - the corrupt politicians are.

After the Marxists have used the “have nots” as a false front for their corruption, and have posed as their saviours to garner their votes, they are still not done using them! When the duped middle class realizes it is getting the life sucked out of it, and is looking for who to blame, the Marxists gladly point the finger at the “have nots”.

So, in the most disgusting display of low character, the Marxist has not only tricked the “have nots” into resenting the “haves”, but now they’ve tricked the “haves” into resenting the “have nots”.

Where am I going with all of this?

We must not forget who the enemy is - and it’s NOT the “have nots”. They have been used, just as the “haves” have.

Trump did not get elected to go after the “have nots”, he got elected to drain the swamp of Marxist pigs.

Trump supporters are being riled up against the Dreamers and are urging the POTUS to march them across the border, and he’s not doing it. Good for him. He can smell a trap a mile away.

By now we should know, as Trump does, that the true enemy is the swamp creatures, the Marxists, the uniparty, the socialists, the progressives, the leftists, the devil (whatever). That’s who we should really be riled up against.

“It is vitally important, that we NOT confuse the DACA people with “amnesty” because it devalues the term for the TRUE illegals who came here VIOLATING the rules.”

You nailed it! This is a one time arrangement for a relatively small block of people that were brought here. The good news is that the issue has become much larger than the size of the class of people warrants...so President Trump has a lot of leverage for very little exposure.

a green card (Alien Registration Card)is the last step to citizenship...

all that is needed is time in country...

a green card means the IMMIGRANT has been fully vetted etc and accepted to

1. enter the country and stay forever...

2. become an American citizen...

I voted for Trump because he backed policies that I think are best for this country - building the Wall (first and foremost), ending illegal immigration and securing US borders, ending Obamacare and nominating conservatives to the federal judiciary. I heard Trump as a guest for years on the Howard Stern show in the '90s, and I put aside some reservations to vote for him because his stated views were right and he seemed to have the determination to enforce those policies.

I'm not some mindless groupie for any politician, and I'm not going to bend logic into a pretzel to justify any politician who goes back on his word. I'm still going to wait to see what Trump does before I make any final judgments, but I expect him to keep his word. I'm sick and tired of Republican presidents who keep 1% of their promises when in office and then expect to get my vote for re-election because the Democrats would have given us 0% - I went through this with the Bushes.

what do you think the illegal alien dacacas are ??? IMMIGRANTS ???

these illegal aliens are above mere IMMIGRANTS...

Rules are for IMMIGRANTS...

IMMIGRATION rules don’t apply to illegal alien dacacas...they dont IMMIGRATE...

If they had wanted to be hindered by IMMIGRATION rules/laws they would have IMMIGRATED...

or if their illegal alien parents had wanted law and order for their children they would have3 IMMIGRATED and brought their children into our country the right way...

This is not about IMMIGRATION...

to IMMIGRATE the illegal alien dacacas would have to go back to their our countries and apply to enter and do it the right way...

this is not an attempt to IMMIGRATE...this is a demand to get away with breaking our laws and thumbing illegal alien noses at our law abiding American citizens and IMMIGRANTS...

A crime has already been committed...they are living a crime...

This Trump supporter is not at all ok with the present situation. But I fully support Trump doing what he has to do to beat down the sell-out pandering do-nothing collusionist hacks in the Republican party. Scorched earth on the self-serving Chamber of Commerce stooges.

We’ve made ‘deals’ about illegals before (Reagan - Bush) - democrats take the parts they like and don’t fund the parts they don’t like... REPUBLICANS MUST STOP BEING PLAYED FOR FOOLS... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... STOP PAUL RYAN...

HERE’S WHAT ILLEGALS COST US...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3585376/posts

Here are 14 reasons illegal aliens should vacate America, and I hope they are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them:

1. $14 billion to $22 billion dollars are spent each year on welfare to illegal aliens (that’s Billion with a ‘B’)

3. $7.5 billion dollars are spent each year on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

4. $12 billion dollars are spent each year on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they still cannot speak a word of English!

5. $27 billion dollars are spent each year for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

6. $3 Million Dollars ‘PER DAY’ is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens. That’s $1.2 Billion a year.

7. 28% percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal aliens.

8. $190 billion dollars are spent each year on illegal aliens for welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

9. $200 billion dollars per year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

10. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in t he US.

11. During the year 2005, there were 8 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our southern border with as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from other terrorist countries. Over 10,000 of those were middle-eastern terrorists. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin, crack, guns, and marijuana crossed into the U.S. from the southern border.

12. The National Policy Institute, estimates that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion, or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.

13. In 2006, illegal aliens sent home $65 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin, to their families and friends.

14. The dark side of illegal immigration: Nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegal immigrants in the United States!

Total cost a whopping $538.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR !

I Have no problem supporting a trump deal where these 800,000 ,are made eligible for citizenship if they jump through some hoops

Also no more chain migration, as it is becoming quite obvious that was the intent of normalizing "dreamers" by making them eligible for a parole and eventual permanent status, where they could then pull in all near and distant blood relations.

If we give another 'inch' the damn democrats will fight us for 'the mile'.

Best thing to do is pull the bandaid off quickly - democrats will hate us anyhow - they might as well hate us for sending the illegals home as hate us for NOT bringing in all their relatives and the relatives of relatives. I do NOT want to spend our treasure on damn illegals when Americans are going wanting. Enough it enough...

The Democrats are experts at knowing Republicans want to be liked. So they smile at us, whisper nice things, have dinner with us, commit to “bipartisanship” so long as it means we went over to their ideas and they end up singing victory songs all the way home. They never stop and we never learn.

Both sides of the so-called 'political spectrum' not only do not give a sh!t about their so called "supporters", but actively dislike, maybe even hate them.

Does anyone really think some Dems crying over DACA illegals actually care about them? On the contrary, they find them just as distasteful, just as much a threat to liberty as we do. But, like the Rinos who hate their own respective base, elected officials have got to suck it up and 'say the hard words'.

It's interesting how professional politicians initially choose their side. I've always thought BJ could have run as an R if he had just a slightly different orientation. Instead of his fake "I feel your pain", it could just as easily been "read my lips".

What is simultaneously amusing but also disconcerting is the number of FReepers who insist on arguing the merits of the situation. They broke the law, no rewards for lawbreakers, etc, etc, etc. Once again, no sh!t, everyone gets it. But it's not an issue about fundamentals, it's an issue about the shadow war, the information war, the meme war.

That is, the deep, long term battles to win back the republic for the people. Sometimes you have to take a hit, give up a hill, strategically retreat. DACA is the fantastic stinky turd bomb for the enemy. Concede defeat and move on to other agenda items while trying to minimize losses.

Never forget that Nov 2018 is the second most important election after 2016. Trump gains extra support, and his entire agenda will be rammed through, with ramifications lasting 50 years.

Besides, in legal terms, there was no culpability in the kids who entered. They didn’t even carry out the actions that got them here. It’s interesting that the focus is on them but not on the adults who brought them.

Looks like the LA Times perceives a weakness and is trying to divide their conservative opposition. It won’t work. President Trump is now in the process of gaining the vast majority of voters and cooperation from Congress. Anyone who opposes the Republican Party for the remainder of the eight years will lose.

The same goes for anti-American leaders in allied nations with another world war just around the corner. Turn to join us or lose.
