Dealing with Democrats? Protecting 'Dreamers'? That's just fine with these Trump supporters
LA Times ^ | 09/15/2017 | Michael Finnegan and Mark Z. Barabak

Donald Trump’s tough talk on illegal immigration was a big part of the reason Dave Hagstrom and many others in this booming Phoenix suburb supported him for president. “Walls make good neighbors,” Hagstrom said.

So when the president moved this week to cut a deal — with Democrats no less — to block the expulsion of 800,000 immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children, was Hagstrom disappointed?

Not at all.

“If you were to deport them, where would they go?” Hagstrom, 60, a car-warranty manager, asked on his way to a Bible-study dinner at an upscale shopping mall. “To send them across the border would be inhumane almost. There’s no life for them there.”

Trump’s fiery rhetoric and promise to seal the U.S. border with Mexico attracted millions of supporters in last year’s election, many of them older white conservatives like the ones who repeatedly elected immigration hard-liner Joe Arpaio as sheriff here in Maricopa County.

But as Trump shifted this week to a softer approach on the young immigrants in legal limbo through no fault of their own, many of his most die-hard supporters moved right along with him — among them Arpaio, who was ousted in November by voters tired of his inflammatory approach.

“young immigrants in legal limbo through no fault of their own”
The LA Times

“young”= like `child refugees’, many bearded, military age males or reaching menopause now with anchor babies of their own now, having made no attempt over the years to seek citizenship

“immigrants”= foreign nationals in our country illegally, not `anchor babies’ or visa overstays

“legal limbo”= federal immigration law ignored and violated by Obama with an ultra vires, unilateral `executive action’ after Congress refused to pass his proposed DACA or DAPA (”stroke of the pen, law of the land—cool”)

“through no fault of their own”= not all children brought here by parents; many were gang members there and now here, seeking asylum, like the Tsaernaev family, by claiming to flee violence, then took regular vacations back to the hellhole they escaped

Every single word in this sentence is a lie.

The executive branch does not make law...

the dacaca fiasco was not Constitutional...

the illegal alien dacacas have been here illegally since the day they arrived whether or not their illegal alien parents brought them into our country...

It is truly amazing that DACA was dreamed up by Obama not that long ago and now it is accepted as an undiscovered law of nature. Same goes with trannies in the military.

DACA is merely an artificial segregation of illegal aliens using trickery to make them appear legal.

It is similar to the “eleven” million figure used to denote the number of illegals in this country. If Americans were apprised of the true number and how much it lowers their quality of life and how much greater it would lower their quality of life if granted amnesty, there would be another revolution.

I do not agree with this.

These people knew dam well that if they got across the border while she was pregnant, and that when the female dropped a calf, that they would be in like Flynn.

Make them go back and file to get back in like the rest.

This whole dam thing is a boondoggle for the shyster immigration lawyers.

This is another case where a Kennedy managed to screw up the country through his immigration legislation.

Here, I got a test for these. If they pass, they get to go in front of the line to file for citizenship FROM their country of origin.

Who was the first elected president of the USA.

Who was the second president of the USA?

Who was the president during the civil war?

Who was the president during WW1?

Who were the presidents during WW2?

What was the name of the general who became president after WW2?

What was the name of the president who was assassinated in the 1960s?

Who became the only president in the nations history to resign the office of the president?

What are the names of the two presidents ever to be impeached in the history of the USA?

What was Ronald Reagan’s occupation prior to his becoming president of the USA?...heh heh.

How many US senators are elected from each state?

How many states in the USA?

How many senators in the US Congress?

Why do we celebrate the 4th of July?

Name the three branches of government of the USA.

This defiance of US law is an in-your-face thing, an assertion that “If you are so rich, why ain’t you smart?”, thumbing their noses at us, “Nyah, nyah!”

I am cuffing sick and tired of their childish antics, and those who go on record as saying this is “OK”.

What Donald Trump is doing may be an elaborate effort to shame the Establishment Republicans into first of all, remembering that are also Americans first, and perhaps even some of the Democrats. A few, like Luis Gutierrez, though not even Mexican (he is Puerto Rican), are so deep into that doctrine of defeating “white supremacy”, that their thinking process has lost all critical edge.

End birthright citizenship; the anchor baby loophole by clarifying in writing with legalese the 14th Amendment was for slave children only. So only slave children of Americans today can be legal American citizens.

That number can’t be very high right; like zero unless they are slaves illegally which is possible but then they don’t fall under that Amendment.

The executive branch does not make law...

True, but it happened anyway, and no one stopped him, did they?

the dacaca fiasco was not Constitutional...

True, but it happened anyway, and no one in Congress or the Supremes stopped him, did they?

the illegal alien dacacas have been here illegally since the day they arrived whether or not their illegal alien parents brought them into our country...

Not true. Since no one stopped Obama, it has the force of law. Sorry. Ryan and McConnell should have stopped him. The Supreme Court should have stopped him. They didn't. Obama used the Executive Branch as his own toy, and stepped all over the Constitution. No one stopped him. He used the levers of power for his own purposes. No one stopped him. His executive action has the force of law. No one stopped him.

No one stopped him. Everyone can say, "The executive branch does not make law" - but he did. And our representatives in Washington should have stopped him. The people in black robes should have said "No!". But no one did.

Sorry.

Thankfully, Trump ended it.

Here's another one for you, Nana. If everything you say is true, then what was the purpose of Trump having to go through the motions of rescinding DACA?

If Obama's executive action was not Constitutional, if the Executive Branch does not make law, then why bother rescinding it? It would have been pointless, no?

Provide the "Dreamers" with enough money to educate them IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES--or in Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Australia, Switzerland, or whatever other country will take them--AND DEPORT THEM!

Also pass a law that ANYONE who violates US immigration law will NEVER be eligible for US citizenship.

I’ve been called some pretty bad things on FR for suggesting the very same sentiments a few years back. I still say “keep the (good) kids, DEPORT the parents”

Let them stay. But, they cannot be citizens, they cannot vote, they cannot receive welfare or tax perks. Most would leave.

There can be no enforcement of that. Those 800,000 will melt away into green cards then citizenship the voting for Democrats. Bureaucrats will never enforce these stipulations.
