One of the things that liberals do (and I'm not necessarily saying that they did it here) is they move the playing field. I'm not just talking about the cliché of "moving the goal posts," but rather, moving the whole field. This effectively moves Republicans leftward, even though they think they were just staying in place.

Here's how they do it.

Schumer (Reid) and Pelosi release coordinated statements that exaggerate some apparently minor points. Republicans, not wishing to appear "wonkish" or "focusing on minutiae" or "process" will let these exaggerations go by unchallenged. The MSM then plays up the Democrat statements and the exaggerations now become the new baseline for the next round of discussion. Boehner, McConnell, and Ryan have just been subtly nudged leftward.

We must make sure that Republicans fully vet and challenge all the statements of Schumer and Pelosi, and of Democrats generally. We cannot let the Republican leadership fall back on their old habits of not aggressively using the media to rebut Democrats and put forth their own narratives.

I know. I turned him off for awhile and was enjoying images of President Trump in Naples, Florida...

The only thing worse (for me anyway) is Rush droning on and on about his beloved National Felons League (NFL). It's obviously his #1 love now, Apple being #2. I'm not sure where politics comes in for Rush these days, but it's definitely NOT #1 anymore.

I admit this is off topic, but I turned Rush off for awhile when he got talking about Apple:

Great images today (per Fox News) of President Trump and the First Lady, VP Pence, Gov. Rick Scott (and I think his wife), Sen. Rubio and the director of FEMA in Naples and Fort Meyers. Trump, Melania and Mike Pence were serving food to Irma victims *that President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump paid for themselves*.

From the images I saw, everyone was super excited to meet the Dream Team serving them lunch! There were many thumbs up and pro-Trump T-shirts. It was heartening.

Unfortunately our friends in South Venice, FL are still without power - they've been moving from place to place, and are now in a hotel. All they know is they're supposed to have power restored by September 21st. Hope they get their power back much sooner than that...
