So if the power grid goes down how do we charge our e-cars?
The same way you’d get gas for an ICE car, with a generator.
Ok so you pour gas into a generator to charge the car. Do you realize how inefficient that is?
About as inefficient as pouring gas into a generator to power the electric pumps that dispense gasoline?
Yeah, agree about turbo’s. Considered buying the F-150 EcoBoost when truck shopping but went with the GM 6.2 which is naturally aspirated and has more hp and torque than the Ford 3.5. Besides, when God created pickup trucks he meant for them to have V-8’s :) about Jeep’s; I bought my oldest daughter a 90 Wrangler when she was in high school, think that was the first year for the Wrangler, not sure. Anyway, was the four cylinder and fuel injected, six was still carbureted. Never had problems with the engine and drive train but had problems with the electronics and such. But, I read in the WSJ the other day that Fiat Is considering selling the Jeep and Ram brands and some Chinese auto company, can’t recall the name that is interested. Apparently, Fiat needs cash to develop EV and self driving cars. Speaking of selling, it would not surprise me if Subaru should seek a friendly merger. It’s taking lots of money to play in the EV and driverless car sector. So, don’t know if Subaru has the band-width to play or not.
Their parent company was formerly known as Fuji Heavy Industries. I suspect they have resources in that regard that have yet to come into play.
Subaru has four main divisions:
- The automobile division, Subaru.
- The aerospace division is a contractor for the Japan Defense Agency and markets and sells both commercial and defense-related aircraft, helicopters and target drones. For the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force it has built the Bell UH-1 Iroquois, Bell AH-1 Cobra and Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopters. It will also be responsible for providing maintenance for the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey tilt rotor aircraft. This division previously built the FA-200 Aero Subaru and is currently participating in the Airbus A380, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Hawker 4000 and Eclipse 500 programs, and supplies parts for Boeing 737, Boeing 747 and Boeing 767.
- The Subaru Industrial Power Products division manufactures and sells commercial engines, pumps and generators which were formerly under the Subaru-Robin and Robin brands. Subaru’s industrial products division, began manufacturing “Star” engines for Polaris Industries snowmobiles in 1968 but engine manufacturing operations ended in 1998 when Polaris Industries started to build their own brand new Liberty two-stroke engines. Subaru remains a Polaris supplier of pistons currently, and remains an invested partner with Polaris. Subaru has provided more than 2 million engines used in Polaris snowmobiles, ATVs, watercraft and utility vehicles.
- The eco technology division manufactures and sells garbage trucks, robot sweeper, and wind turbines.
That’s stupid. Of course running ONE electric pump to fill 100 cars with gasoline is WAY more efficient.
And you got a subsidized government motors car.
It’s an expedient measure taken in an emergency. Can you plug a car with a gasoline engine into a solar array and have a full tank of gas in a day or two? Is there any other source of fuel for a gasoline engine car, other than that gas station? There are upsides and downsides to both. I suggest you read my exchange with FReeper snoringbear on this thread to see what might not have been covered because it doesn’t need to be rehashed.
“And you got a subsidized government motors car.”
Lol! Well, it gets even worse. If you’ve been following the chatter you may have seen my comment about my 401K taking a major hit during the crash. Part of that hit was 2,000 shares of GM common stock that turned into dirt. But, yup, I’ve actually bought two trucks and at least two Suburbans since then. So, go figure :)
The same people that aren’t smart enough to not spill hot coffee on themselves no doubt.
If you think charging an EV with a generator is smart in an emergency, like what is going on in FLA, you are being plain dumb. If I saw someone doing that and I knew there was a full tank in the ground at dark gas station I would “appropriate” it from you.
You'd be fortunate to merely limp away with a load of buckshot and rock salt in your sorry @ if you tried that.
Nice to see your moral basis in an emergency, by the way. I'll keep that in mind.
As we saw in Houston recently and Florida, any and everywhere disaster has stuck, it is internal combustion vehicles and aircraft rushing to supply aid and search for and rescue people, saving lives.
What happens once they fulfill their bans and another flood, earthquake or even a massive fire occurs with no reliable means to search and rescue people or carry in much needed aid and supplies?
“Oops, sorry ‘about that” won't cut it!
Wake up!
This is exactly what they are aiming for; massive loss of life; Agenda 21.
