It’s an expedient measure taken in an emergency. Can you plug a car with a gasoline engine into a solar array and have a full tank of gas in a day or two? Is there any other source of fuel for a gasoline engine car, other than that gas station? There are upsides and downsides to both. If you think charging an EV with a generator is smart in an emergency, like what is going on in FLA, you are being plain dumb. If I saw someone doing that and I knew there was a full tank in the ground at dark gas station I would “appropriate” it from you.
