Most of the fast food slop joint franchises in CA are owned by wealthy foreign nationals and Muslims, so it’s a win win for them.

Will the media tell the people that this is because of the increase in the minimum hourly rate?

No they will say it's because Trump hates immigrants who do these jobs.

The left will cry foul and demand that robots be outlawed in restaurants, because they take away jobs from the poor.

They are already talking about taxing robots to make up for the lost Social Security taxes paid by employees.

$15/hr is about what I'd expect to pay a front-line tech to maintain several stores' worth of these robots.

Minimum wage proponents should be careful with what they wish for, they might get it.

I bet the break even time between set cost and equipment paid for is not too long when they can work 24/7. Wonder if the robot repair guy will be the new IT guy that use to be the copier guy back in the day.

And maybe it will even speak English !!!

Or NOT have a massive thin-skinned chip on it's shoulder. Most of us are ready... Machines over liberal elite democrat victim group members any day of the week... Conservatives are sick of paying to be treated like second class citizens.

Place your order by kiosk, machines make the food.

This is the future of fast food.

Human involvement will be minimized.

“....hire a new staff member that works for free?”....

Well, NO WAY “FREE”. First, you have to purchase the machine and my guess, considerably high priced since it must be programmable and versatile enough to make more than one kind of burger. Second, there is operation and maintenance which, typically would take a human to do. Replacement costs and other hidden costs tell me the machines will take some time to pay themselves off but when “free and clear” will provide high degree of uniformity in EVERY burger coming off that grill. Good for CalBurger moving forward with these machines and I anticipate we will see many more like these surfacing all across the nation as the price of “unskilled” labor escalates beyond its capability to provide.

What about workmen’s comp, health care coverage (robots won’t buy health insurance so the could be subject to the tax) , Medicare tax, federal and state unemployment tax?

.gov needs the money! :-(

I'm surprised we still have cashiers in joint's like McD's...it might as well be a kiosk now.

We give our order to a witless drone standing in front of a computer/register on the other side of a counter, they press the buttons for the food we want, and not always correctly, and then most times we swipe a card to pay.

Dump the cashier now...$avings right off the bat.

And after that fails, they will unionize the robots, charge them dues, bargain for them and be their “voice”.
