Stephen King fans are hoping they can get the author of the clown horror story It and 53 other novels to consider running for political office.
Among them are the state's most recent former governor, two-term Democrat John Baldacci, who told the Washington Examiner, "Stephen would win any office he decided to run for in Maine."
"I would be out there handing out fliers and putting on bumper stickers for him," said Baldacci, who left office after eight years in 2011. "He's been a big asset for the state of Maine and for a lot of people who look for common sense in the wilderness."

Now that is downright scary from Derry. Or whatever town it is.
yessss... that’s what they need.
Even the langoliers would vote for King.
I don’t think he’ll do it. He’s got the perfect job. Reading and writing books full-time. Why would he want to give that up and get into politics?
Why not? Those idiots in Minnesota elected a jackass so called comedian as senator. This should fit just as well. Liberals are idiots anyway.
Pennywise approves.
Jesse Ventura in another state? Surprising!
Idiocracy 3.2? Liberals would do it!
After the Idiocracy of Barack Hussein Obama, nothing surprises me anymore.
That'd be a lot more effective if conservatives weren't crowing over Kid Rock running for the senate from Michigan.
Sometimes idiocy is bipartisan.
Other than writing horror stores and movies, what experience does he have? NONE!
It's a shame he's such a left-winger. Fortunately, he keeps that crap out of his books, at least the books of his that I actually read. Most of the older ones. "Under the Dome" was the last of the newer ones I read. He's no Hemingway but a good storyteller.
One thing he said years ago that always stuck with me. To be a good writer, you must spend 4-6 hours every day either writing your own work or reading somebody else's work. Every single day. I think he commits himself to write at least 10 pages every day and then he reads other people's books.
He also calls television a "poison to creativity" which I agree with. I saw the movie version of "It" over the weekend and the book was much, much better. As it usually is.
Just proves being competent isn’t high on dems requirements to hold public office...
Just pushing a canidate with name recognition to abtain raw power from useful tools..
His stories are scary.
But, getting that ill-educated clown into public office would be...well...think Maxine Waters.
With the advent of Kindle, I’ve got a plastic milk crate full of King paperbacks I’m thinking of tossing, after fall bookcase cleaning.
Yes, it’s a shame he’s such a political tool. He spins a good yarn. Prolly drop them off at Goodwill, where I found a first ed. `1984’ for one dollah ... heh
But as soon as you walk in, it smells like a high school locker. Hey look, a squirrel ...
King has a deranged mind - from all that coke he was snorting.
As long as they can keep him from walking out in the middle of the road it might work. And if he doesn’t work out they can let him walk out in the road.
,,,,,, no thanks he’s a flaming liberal .
LOL common sense.
Liberals have anything BUT.
See my tagline.
