Actually, I have some relatives that live in Bangor, ME and they say Stephen King isn't that well liked at all. In fact he's pretty much considered an arrogant jerk that treats fans like crap and likes to constantly flaunt his fame and money. He does things like attending a local concert or baseball game and buying up every ticket in an entire section so he doesn't have to mingle with hoi-polloi.
