Paraphrase: If the exit poll is correct, the four center-right parties will total 88 seats in the new parliament, and the center-left and left parties 81. This result is in doubt because it cannot yet be said with confidence that the two smallest center-right parties will make the 4 percent threshold when the counting of the actual vote is This result is in doubt because it cannot yet be said with confidence that the two smallest center-right parties will make the 4 percent threshold when the counting of the actual vote is completed.

I note that the term “left” is never used.
But, the term “right” has many variations, depending on the bias the (ill educated and totally without morals) press deems necessary.
Well, there’s left and there’s far-left or radical left. On the left side are:
Center - centrist
Labor - center-left
Green - left
Socialist - left
Communist - radical left
Notice that the left has to accommodate the Center Party, so, this reigns in the radical left’s craziness.
On the right there are:
Liberals - center-right
Christian Democrats - center-right
Conservatives - center-right
Progress Party - populist-right
I think our side is all moderate, but the left thinks the Progress Party of Norway the way the left thinks of Donald Trump and the Tea Party in this country.
It would be nice if a big country like Norway would kick the savages out.
Fingers crossed.
I have Norwegian blood on my mom’s side. My uncle and cousin went to visit a few months ago.
I’d have voted for the Progress Party.
I think most Freepers would vote for the Progress Party. Just between me and you, I am not unhappy about the Center Party strengthening at the expense of the left parties.
I’m no expert on Norwegian politics but it sounds to be like they’d fit in more with the center-right.
This article quotes some guy calling their leader “ a small wig away from Donald Trump.
But it states they are still more likely to side with Labour.
Thanks for sharing.
Liberals (U.S. style) subscribe to media to explain to them why they only “appear” to be losing. The article to which you referred me is an example.
The Center Party is not a left wing party. If shifted from the right-wing to the left-wing is order to secure its priorities, when that made sense. Good for them. The Progress Party rose up in a sense because the Center Party got too cozy with the left. This year, the Center Party seems to be re-thinking its position in the political spectrum.
Add the Center Party and the Progress and you have a pretty large bloc. So much for the “myth” that populist parties aren’t growing. They ARE growing. The Center Party, Conservatives and the Progress could form a government, freezing out the Liberals and the Christian Democrats, if those two parties get too pushy about their priorities. The Center Party is thinking they could get a sweet deal from such a coalition.
This is how European coalitions work. They make deals with each other.
I voted Progress.
Just now looking at the manifesto of the Center Party...
I prefer them to the conservatives and think that longer term, it is vital to get them into the fold with Progress and the conservatives and kick the morons in Venstre and Krf to the curb.
Heck, I might join them locally to do my part to nudge them in that direction :)
Thanks for the Norway election threads.
Cheers,
Euro
