The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Out here in the high plains of West Texas you can have a ground wind going one way, a low cloud formation going another way and a high cloud formation going a third way. Best to think three dimensionally. You learn that as you watch thunderboomers form here out of nothing. They then travel to DFW and OKC. Tornado alley.
Just spoke to my brother in Tampa. Their elevation is high enough that there is no danger from storm surge. Most in his neighborhood are riding it out. He is just north of I-4 off I-75 in proximity to University of South Florida. Most of the houses in this area have tile roofs so there is a danger of them blowing in the wind.
Just looked at Key West and has 70s and 8 mph wind. Nice and calm for the moment. Unless that is the eye, seems oddly calm with hurricane bearing down on it.

Been over that one too. Same reaction. Mr.RR knows and honors my fears. He very carefully plans our travels now to avoid those places.

That’s sweet, my hubby did the same. I took the kids to 6 flags and they talked me into some ride I thought ok maybe I was over this hight thingy I was talking to GOD and telling them I was going to kill them never again..
And it's flat up there on top...Been thru there a couple of times...Not something a person will ever forget...
Again radar and satellite are not the best for getting actual real movement.

Crazy,many evacuated there.I just found out my Son-in-Law crew was redirected to Port St Lucie and they are stayING beachfront.He is going to ride out his first Hurricane.My Daughter very upset.
Maybe that’s my problem, too. Whenever I’m on a high edge, that’s when I get that pit in my stomach. However, the WTC thing happened before the doors even opened on the elevator. So maybe a bit of both?
