An Idaho police department is hailing nurse Alex Wubbels as a hero for standing up to Salt Lake City Detective Jeff Payne, who tried to take blood from a patient without a warrant or the patients consent.
That patient, it turns out, is William Gray, a reserve officer in Rigby, a city about 15 miles north of Idaho Falls.
The Rigby Police Department would like to thank the nurse involved and hospital staff for standing firm, and protecting Officer Grays rights as a patient and victim, the agency said on Facebook. Protecting the rights of others is truly a heroic act.

“Dicktective”
I nominate this post for FReeper post of the week.
No need to make up names since the name ‘cop’ already tells you the person is a moron.
As someone noted elsewhere, they “hail” her six weeks after the event. They only did anything because the video went viral.
Justice will be slow. Nothing that doesn’t include jail time will be sufficient. His retirement benefits? How about his nest egg including his home? These cops are not good people. Their ‘blue code’ is what makes them bad.
I can’t spell, honust.
So the Idaho cops are morons too?
Yes, only because of the video and that it went viral, but that's kind of normal. Written or narrated reports rarely hold interest or attention except in the courtroom, so it is unlikely that there would have been any interest by anybody.
> So the Idaho cops are morons too? <
Many folks are confusing the statements made by the Idaho police with those made by the Utah police.
The Late Will Grigg wrote almost daily of horror stories of cops (& their superiors) in Idaho & Utah. Per capita, they may have the most bad apples.
What were all those guys standing around as she was pleading for someone to help her?
“That patient, it turns out, is William Gray, a reserve officer in Rigby, a city about 15 miles north of Idaho Falls.”
There was a poster in the vein of Alaskawolf “cops can never be wrong” who had already judged William Gray guilty of something, anything, and stated repeatedly that the nurse was rightly arrested for not bowing to the whims of the cop.
Strange how that certain poster isn’t defending his position on this.
The bad cop is still not in jail.

They didn’t want any trouble.
I strongly disagree with your characterization of all cops as morons. Makes me kind of wonder why you have such an extreme problem with all cops. A great many cops are heroes, despite the actions of some.
Agreed, but it might even be worse than that.
The Idaho Reserve Officer was an innocent third party lawfully driving a truck that was hit by the driver being pursued by the Utah Cops.
The Utah Cops may have been in violation of Department procedure in the pursuit.
Payne may have been trying to illegally obtain evidence of impairment to coerce the third party victim from legal action against the Utah Cops.
Nor is he likely to be.
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
But don't fret, John Q. Taxpayer will be heavily fined for this transgression, he'll learn not to do it again.
