Worst Box Office In 25 Years
Breitbart News ^ | 02 September 2017 | John Nolte

Posted on 09/03/2017 5:07:27 AM PDT by KyCats

Even before this catastrophic Labor Day weekend is factored in (more on this below), the domestic 2017 box office is in hideous shape. This year is –6.3% behind 2016 and continues to fall behind 2015, 2013, and 2012.

If you figure in inflation, those numbers are even worse. For example, in 2012 the average ticket cost $7.96. Today it is almost a full dollar more at $8.89. Yeah, things are that bad and will look even worse on Tuesday.

With no apparent faith in their own product, this is the first Labor Day in 25 years where a new title has not been released on more than 1,000 screens. Over this weekend last year, the box office hauled in nearly $130 million. This year will do about a third of that.

Summer attendance is at a 25-year low.

Nolte does a nice job of analyzing Hollywood's train wreck in progress then summarizes the situation for them in case they're not sure what they're doing wrong:

"Instead of looking inwards, instead of realizing that the quality of the product was such that no one wanted to experience it again at home, the studios blamed piracy, video games, and television.

Sorry, no.

The only problem is that your industry sucks and that it keeps getting suckier."

Nicely said, John!

A great piece of news! It is always fun to see trouble in our enemy’s house.

Two simple reasons:

1. Nothing new ... rehash of comics, remake of other movies, progressively worse acting.
2. These Hollywood starts are vocal with their politics today ... and the large part of the country disagrees with their liberal views.

One day, before too very long, they will figure it out.
They’re not stupid (Hollywood) but simply blinded by Agenda.

But these are ALL profit-making businesses, and once enough
financial blood has flowed, they’ll untimately “Get It.”

Trouble is” they will they become more reserved and hidden
and slyly propagandistic in what they’re selling, and not
quite as blatant.

They will be more dangerous then.

Obviously the answer is to remake all of the films of 1991.

But update them for woke snowflakes.

Good news to hear. Best way to put those phonies in their place is to hit them in the pocket book. Many of the so-called “entertainers” do nothing but tear our country’s president down and spread hate. I have boycotted movies for a number of years because of that and have no intentions of giving any of my support. So be it!

saw trailer last night, I think it was called saints, about a priest who’s church is going under, illegal immigrants running a farm with church to keep it going. Imaginary propaganda crap like this does them in

One unsubtle change would be to stop using the “F” word prolifically. It is no longer cool and is causing loss of revenue.

Agenda driven propaganda is reached the point of putting audiences off but very dark and offensively loud productions are also off putting.

In short, the whole productions are unsalable

For some reason Hollywood has thought that deliberately alienating half of its potential customers, thinking that is a good game plan for them. That might have something to do with it, but mostly, it’s just the lousy carp they churn out.

those people have spent two generations taking swipes at and insulting the American people. I for one, refuse to give them any more of my money by attending a movie and paying $50-60 to bring my family.

It was particularly enjoyable to read about all the big-name franchises that did the ole crash and burn last year:

“Straight up bombs include Alien, Transformers, Cars, Smurfs, Resident Evil, Underworld, Wimpy Kid, Xander Cage, Nut Job, Independence Day, Ice Age, Ninja Turtles, Divergent, Huntsman, Alice in Wonderland, Inferno (DaVinci Code), and Jack Reacher.”

Donald Trump gave America the kick in the ass we needed and ... OK ... OK ... I'm awake, now !

Being truly awake and looking around we NOW see so much jit "they" have been throwin' at us.

Watch for school protests soon.

America realizes the public schools gave us the snowflakes and are a danger to our American future.

I wonder how long it will be before the leftonazis decide we MUST attend their crappy Hollywood movies. We already have to bake their lousy cakes. Is it really such a stretch to imagine they will force us to watch their movies too?

The days when I went to the theatres to see “When Harry Met Sally” or “Field of Dreams” and I when I would go to the nearby video store to rent (on Beta, no less) titles like “Working Girl” or “Bull Durham” or “The January Man” when they were new releases on home video seem that very, very distant now. I also even subscribed to Premiere magazine back from about 1988 to 1990.

My wife to,d me that the new American Horror Story season begins with the premise that a woman has had a mental breakdown because DJT was elected. Probably wouldn’t have watched anyway, but come on! Stopped watching Preacher because they had a scene showing Jesus having wild sex with a woman. Utterly disgusting.
