The Justice Department has given special counsel Robert Mueller a copy of the letter President Trump drafted with his rationale for firing former FBI Director James Comey, according to a New York Times report.
However, White House counsel Don McGahn ended up blocking the letter, which was written with adviser Stephen Miller, because he believed its angry, meandering tone was an issue.
Ultimately, the presidents draft was sent to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who wrote a letter of his own that was used by the Trump administration as reason for firing Comey.
The draft is significant, however, because the reasons for firing Comey are believed to be a significant focus of Muellers investigation.
Rosenstein's primary rationale for firing Comey had to do with the Directors handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clintons emails. He also said the FBIs reputation and credibility have suffered substantial damage under Comey.
The New York Times did not see a copy of the letter, so it is unclear how much of Trumps draft focused on the Russia investigation.

Trump was really pissed that Comey wouldn't say that Trump was not under investigation...after telling Trump 3 times. The reason was that it might change.
Almost sounding like Comey had a plan in mind....and that was the leak.
Also, I believe all Mueller - Comey communications should be made public.
Well, in that case I’m sure they’ll quit looking outside their well defined parameters. Or continue doing whatever they feel like doing.
One of Weasel Mueller’s goals is to drain the Federal Treasury.
You’re wrong about Sessions. He kept himself above the Russian fray so he could do his job.
Sounds more like POTUS jotted down some notations — his rationale for firing Comey — and passed them on to an underling to ‘write’ the actual letter.
In regular business circles, that would be called ‘delegating’.
Of course, the media tries to make a dramatic incident out of it.
Something tells me this Witch Hunt will lead to a comprehensive report of BS right in time for the Midterms. My guess is that the left is still hanging their hat on Russia,Russia,Russia.
Appointing Deep State, Swamp Dweller RosenKrantz was a YUGE mistake.
Sessions is being held captive at the DoJ.
> The New York Times did not see a copy of the letter... <
In other words, more guessing reported as fact.
Hey, maybe I’ll give it a try. News flash: Someone told someone who told me that the editor of the Times wrote a letter to Kim Jong-un. In the letter the editor expressed his deep romantic love for Kim. He asked if they could meet for a discreet encounter.
I personally did not see a copy of the letter. But someone told me about it. So I’m running with the story.
I have noticed that some on this site seem to
think that Trump was only elected in order to appoint Sessions Attorney General so Sessions could MAGA.
Unless something is going on behind the scenes, he is a waste of time.
What exactly is his job? To sit back and do nothing while Mueller goes on a fishing expedition and Hillary flits around the country raking in more money.
I know ,I know, no one knows what he doing behind the scenes but it sure looks to be nothing.
Yeah, busting pot heads, meanwhile there is a civil war going on with Trump as the main target and Jeff Sessions is MIA.
Nonsense. There is no higher responsibility for an AG than to defend the Constitution, nation and her people from going through a genuine coup. Sessions completely shirked that responsibility.
"According to a White House insider..." "According to someone familiar with the investigation..." "According to interviews with a dozen administration officials and others briefed on the matter..."
The NYT and WP these days have basically adopted the same journalism standards once reserved for the National Enquirer.
>>Sessions is being held captive at the DoJ.

I don’t see that. I see a happy, willing participant. One who voluntarily and publicly referred to Rosenstein as
“a really good guy” doing “a great job”.
His position on Asset Forfeiture is blatantly unconstitutional.
His praise for the vile prosecutors and judge in the Bundy case is unconscionable.
His inaction on Hillary and her cohorts is despicable.
He has been a part of the Establishment Congress for decades. Trojan Horse who served his Masters well.
Yep, there is plenty of evidence to support that argument.
Why would Sessions have jumped on the Trump Train early then?
