Last I heard, it was California that wants to leave the USA.

Not Texas.

It sounds like they are still angry about blowing it during the last election.

Most of the folks being rescued are Mexicans, Mexican-Americans and the usual African-Americans. I’m not seeing a lot of Confederates being rescued.

This is what liberals call compassion.

...thought it appropriate to deride people’s faith as well...

I’ve noticed this common theme in liberal bubbles where I can argue with them. They say things like, “people who believe in a god are idiots”, not realizing they, a small minority of atheists, are basically insulting the human race in general.

The ignorant arrogance is almost tangible.

Politico is just a more modern version of the Establishment Media, in my humble opinion. They’re not much different than HuffPost....

Selfish liberal priks like them have no compassion at all. Their hearts are as black as coal.

To the politically obsessed, everything, life and death itself, must be seen through the lens of politics. It's why CNN crews are out there interviewing half-drowned citizens in the hopes of turning up an anti-Trump quote. And like all obsessives, anyone who doesn't share that obsession is strange and alien.

The cartoonist's point, beyond the obvious bigotry, was that not God, but the government, is there to save them, which is a lie. Other Americans are the rescuers. Some work for the government. Most are just neighbors. That's how it is in the real, non-politically-obsessed world.

This whole thing is certainly revealing with respect to the political class. We're seeing five-eyed, slithering, tentacled genetic mutants viewing Texas and laughing, "Wow, looka all the weirdos." It would be amusing if it weren't so insulting.

You know, it struck me watching the reports from Texas, how Texans take the bull by the horns and deal with what’s going on. Helping each other! Compare to Sandy, where the bitching and kavetching and whining the Feds didn’t help quick enough, is all one saw! Plus, the President didn’t meet the Governor of Texas at the beach for a big hug! God bless Texans!

Reminds of this joke:

A man and his family were standing on their roof during a massive flood. He turned to his wife and told her that the Lord was going to save them.

Shortly after that, a boat showed up, but the man refused the help and told the guy in the boat that the Lord was going to save them.

About twenty minutes later, a helicopter hovered above the house, but the man told the pilot the same thing.
The Lord was going to save them.

Eventually they all drowned. When they reached Heaven, the man asked why He didn't save them.

The Almighty replied "I sent a boat and a helicopter for you!"
