Oh there’s lots of work going on but it’s largely for the devil.

As an old IT veteran, I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain. Well, people do tend to think that a digital system has to ennoble what it has been put to, which is like saying that everywhere a Porsche is driven it has to be for something good.

We gave up the republic, or formally made inevitable the totalitarianization of the Republic when we ratified Constitutional Amendments 16,17,and 19.

>What about Communist sites? They’ve killed 20 times more than Nazis. Well, the left loves Communism so I guess it doesn’t matter how many they’ve killed.

The time is coming when both the Communists and their leftist sympathizers will be handled.

Forgetting the leading role that faith played in forging the nation’s path is the foremost folly of all. A case could even be made for a secular study of the consequences of faith and of common failure modes of faith. It would start with theological theory common to the faith traditions of the west. The beauty of this is that it would be all witness without any official exhortation. And therefore would pass even our modern secular muster.

That’s really drama queening and besides the point. A rearrangement of the deck chairs on the Titanic is not responsible for its ending up under the briny.

Those amendments were substantial changes in how the Republic has functioned.16 gave control of the money and production progressively to the central government. 17 changed the Sovereign States into Provinces with no representation in the Central Government. 19 slowly but inexorably changed the focus of the Republic from liberty to security and making everyone be nice.

You give terribly short shrift to an even more fundamental spiritual shift. There is no secular way, not even the most supposedly originalist constitutionalism, to keep men from doing dirt. None at all. Let’s not confuse form with essential substance.

In fact the current form is the most propitious for a visionary figure like Donald Trump. We only need one Trump to get it started, not 50 Trumps.

Put it all on God and the Bible and we can all just go home and watch TV.

We either believe in freedom to assembly & freedom of speech or we don’t. Not far from here to get sites such as Freepers shut down.

I.e. doing dirt 50 different ways isn’t liberty in anything more than the most abstruse sense.

The same things abused by settling for “niceness,” as you put it, can also be used to bear forth holiness.

God knows what America needs, for the purposes to which He wishes to put it, even more than we do.

That’s a contradiction in terms. Don’t you believe God gave you a mind to think about His glory?

And yet, because people DO tend to “go home and watch TV” could you blame God for setting up circumstances that ease the transition from that sort of idleness back to loving God and neighbor?

It’s not like God is trying to be impossible. He stoops to our need.

There’s a point to this.

We can’t be lax in propounding our own points of view and then blame the result on all the other goofballs out there yacking in their goofball way.

Freedom of speech in America isn’t just a right. It’s an opportunity. It is for us to offer it before God with prayers to help us use it wisely.

We don’t have a national debate if our response to hearing public folly is to go hide in our tempest teapot.

So it was acceptable for over two decades, but only became a problem after some random doofus killed one person with a car in Virginia?

No. It became a problem after Trump won.

Trump seems to be the focal target point for every distorted political sling and arrow out there.

He’s doing something absolutely horrible or something absolutely wonderful. You pays your money and takes your choice. But we are watching something positively biblical in aspect.

But I think Trump is God-driven.

Nothing else could explain the sheer candlepower of his optimism which has kept up little daunted in the face of some of the messiest politics on earth.

So, did this website promote violence? If not, what happened to free speech? Is it now only for those with certain cultural/political stripes but not others?

Free speech is dead. Once the left gets done with the actual racist sites (which are pretty few in number) they’ll move on conservatives sites they call “racist”.
