Contrast that to when I went up to Pennsylvania to visit a friend in Harrisburg. We went to a local mall. Something hit me as weird. At first I couldn’t put a finger on it. Then I saw a black woman walked past.
She was the only black person I saw. No other shoppers, no employees. I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing.
I’ve heard Va. has a lot of mixed heritage persons. I haven’t personally seen that for myself, I’ve been there.
But the famous country singer, Patsy Cline was from there and she did have that.

Read a biography of Truman and either his or Bess’s family talked of “how some damned Kansas family was eating off of their china”. Although Missouri stayed in the Union, western Missouri was pretty much considered enemy territory and I believe residents were forced to abandon their farms and move to towns. Of course Missourians weren’t the innocents either, they conducted raids into Kansas before the Civil War. Caused at least two or three generations of resentment between the two states.

Even Trump is not going to be able to stop the civil war that has been brewing for 30 years. Unification at this point is not an option.
The division of the population is too hardened and the rhetoric too strident. There will be an incident or series of incidents that tips this into a hot war.
I had three great uncles from MO who ran with Quantrill and a Great Grandfather (their father) who provided financial support. They were force to fight when Redlegs came onto their land and hanged their mother’s brother for absolutely nothing. Antifa are the modern Redlegs.
Missouri’s post-war constitution disenfranchised any resident who so much as mailed a letter to anyone in the CSA. That constitution was replaced in 1875.
I’ve always been a northerner who loved the south. Just last week, family genealogy studies revealed that we actually WERE southerners at the time of the Civil War, lost everything, came west and north in the great migration after Sherman trashed the south. So I’m taking this personally.
