Four Confederate monuments were removed from New Orleans earlier this month following complaints that they celebrate racism, and now the city of Baltimore has plans to follow suit. But most voters oppose taking away these remnants of the past even if they are unpopular with some.
While proposals have been made to get rid of monuments such as the Jefferson Memorial and the carving on Stone Mountain in Georgia because they honor men who practiced or defended slavery, just 19% of Likely U.S. Voters think the United States should erase symbols of its past history that are out of line with current sentiments. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 69% oppose erasing these historical symbols. Twelve percent (12%) are undecided.

I vote to keep American history.
If you think the knowledge of history in this country is deficient now, wait until you get rid of every historical monument that bothers some idiot. At that point we are completely set up for repeating whatever negative aspects of history there may be, because we’ll have no history from which to learn.
There seemed to be the same type of activity in communist countries to erase and change history .... but then we are dealing with modern day communists!
This seems to have become a new liberal cause celebre, the removal of Confederate monuments.
New Orleans can’t control their flood control system, but they can find over a million dollars to remove Confederate monuments. They can’t educate their kids or control rampant crime in their city, but they can find the resources to remove a statue which offends the sensibilities of the media and liberals.
Other places are now making their plans for removal.
Voters?
No one cares what they want.
Violent, democrat, progressives pissing in the wind again.
Voters have wanted our borders and laws enforced for 30 years.
Doesn’t seem to matter what the voters want.
Pretty soon what’s left of the RAT party will be putting out hits on Soros Inc. itself. lol
The longer this stuff goes on the bigger the backlash. Approval for purging of history should take a super majority and not just a political hack listening to one side. Someone needs to remember this purging can work in many different ways and it will become a massive destabilizing influence.
We Need an ADOPT A CONFED MONUMENT PROGRAM in place. Place them in rural areas on HIGH places on private lands. That needs to begin soon!
Grateful recipient of the Albert Sydney Johnston Scholarship - awarded by the good old ladies of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
So yes, I'm biased on this issue.
Doesn’t seem to matter what the taxpayers want either.
They want another Civil War ? They’re gonna get it.
Jackass

I vote to keep American history.

If they want to forget history, slavery didn’t exist. They can all shut up then.
And North Carolina is a hotly contested swing state. Hmmmm.
Violent, democrat, progressives pissing in the wind again.
They just can’t help themselves. The crazier they get the better Trump looks.
