Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore leads the crowded Republican primary field in the state's Senate race, according to a new poll.

Moore has 30 percent support in the JMC Analytics and Polling survey. He is followed by Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.), with 22 percent, and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), who had 19 percent.

Another 17 percent are undecided.

The poll found that 53 percent of respondents view Moore favorably, compared with 34 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of him.

Just 35 percent have a favorable view of Strange and half of respondents see him unfavorably.

About one-third, 31 percent, have a favorable impression of Brooks, compared with 43 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of him..........................................................

If no candidate hits 50 percent on the Aug. 15 primary, the top two candidates will move on to a runoff on Sept. 26, before the general election in December.

I agree with Chuck Noreris,

“Judge Roy Moore is the real deal: He’s tough, tested, and has a spine of steel,” said Norris. “The Washington establishment knows they won’t be able to count on him, but Alabama voters can. Judge Moore has never backed down from standing for what is right, and that’s exactly what he’ll do in the U.S Senate. That’s why the Washington establishment is spending millions trying to defeat Judge Moore."

OOPs, I meant Chuck Norris, not Noreris. I forget to check my words at times, especially when I type fast.

Oh well

I hope that all Alabama FReepers get out and vote for Moore and, perhaps more importantly, get their family, friends and neighbors to do the same. Judge Moore is the real deal and has proven himself to be immune to pressure from the GOPe and the Statists.

If anyone is a never give up fighter it is Judge Moore. Norris apparently agrees. I would be very happy to see the Judge win. It’s going to be a long hard mud slinging McConnell smearing election after this run off.

Alabama needs a good Senator.

The Cheap Labor Express has enough Senators.

I do wish President Trump had not endorsed Strange. Moore is a man of the people.

Disgusting. Who the hell is advising him?

The biggest takeaway for me from this poll is that Moore is the only one with favorable ratings. Both Strange and Brooks are viewed unfavorably, while Moore has just the opposite fav/unfav ratings.

Is there an “insider’s agreement” (in Washington) on why Trump supported Strange?
The Obamacare vote?
Previous Supreme Court vote?
Previous “scratch my back” promises to Trump?

Yep. I’m having a hard time wrapping my my mind around Trumps
endorsement of corrupt Luther Strange.

I hope Moore wins the Senate for 4 reasons

It will send a message to the RINOs

It will send a message to the fake conservatives.

It will send a message that no seat is safe.

And it will send a message to get behind Trumps agenda
or you will be out.

I don't think it matters:

The poll found that 53 percent of respondents view Moore favorably, compared with 34 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of him. Just 35 percent have a favorable view of Strange and half of respondents see him unfavorably

Strange is in trouble next to Moore ...

Moore has a dedicated cadre of support that will be shown less than a majority.

3 Let’s hope and pray that Moore pulls off the primary with over 50.

Moore is 70. Strange is 64. Brooks is 63 and a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

I am leaning towards Brooks over Moore. One story circulating around AL is that if Moore wins the GOP primary, the Democrat will win the special election. The AL GOP has embarrassed itself badly over the last 2 years with scandals involving the state house speaker and the governor - including the appointment of State AG Luther Strange to fill Sen. Sessions' vacant seat.

The “Suspended” former Chief Justice, based on this poll
it leading the race.

Why didn’t you put “Voted for Paul Ryan for Speaker” by Books name?
Or “Trashed Trump during the primaries” by Books name”?

The latter probably is the reason Brooks is running 3rd by a wide margin.
