Sheriff’s deputies in Shelby County, Tennessee, say an armed citizen at Kroger shot and critically wounded a suspect who allegedly attacked using a metal bar and a pair of pliers.

The incident occurred around 11 pm Saturday night.

According to News Channel 3, the armed citizen was sitting in his car at the Kroger gas pump when the unidentified 32-year-old suspect charged him. The armed citizen “shot the [suspect] in the face and abdomen.”

The suspect was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Hope the citizen has some CCW insurance cause you know the perp will have a bunch of lawyers lining up looking for money. And Kroger too probably. Locally it's Smith's and you can usually count on at least one person to be packing in the store.

It is possible the perp will do prison time and still get a civil verdict against the armed citizen.

Shakespeare was right. First, kill all the lawyers.

Yeap, looks like the armed citizen needs to head back to the range to fine tune that aim.

If the perp is wearing a backpack, you may reconsider plain running as a first tactic.

Running from a 32 year old, even with a backpack, may not be an option for the older citizens.

Hmmm. Last time I checked, I’m still unable to run at 1,500 fps. 1,300 maybe.

“at least one” should be “almost every” like the 2a supposedly guarantees.

In any case, I’m hoping the CCW boondoggle and 2A insurance peddled by NRA fades into history.

The stomach is not center mass. The chest is center mass.

I was going to post the same. If memory serves me, if it was considered justified by LEO, he cannot be sued in civil court. I'm sure there is someone out there that knows Tennessee law better than I.

With the intended victim OK and the thug shot in the face and abdomen & sent to the hospital in critical condition with a double tap ain’t too bad a shot. Maybe just a case of a larger caliber needed.
Or, maybe just the perp’s lucky day.

And there is the moral issue of running for your life. Sure. sometimes it makes overall sense to leave the area. However, people get tired of running, and it makes for a better society when men stand hard against this kind of BS out there.

Hope the citizen has some CCW insurance

So to exercise your Constitutional rights you suggest people buy insurance so they can be protected?

I said fine tune that aim. I’m very happy the rounds landed on target. However, because the perp lived he will likely file a civil suit against the armed citizen. Civil suits are ugly and depending on the judge could turn out bad for the armed citizen.
