Sad news. Didn’t know he was suffering from ALS. He made a great transition from playwright to movie actor. I particularly liked Days of Heaven and The Right Stuff. He was also good in Black Hawk Down. RIP.

“Hey Ridley......you got some beemans?”

And yet the ancient Chuck Yeager lives on.

RIP.

Don’t I know it. My family watched that horrible disease cripple my dad limb-by-limb for more than three years before he finally succumbed. Nobody deserves to suffer like this.

An engaging actor. Who couldn’t love his characters? No mention of love.

His days in Santa Fe with then wife Jessica Lang seemed a compatible fit.

Yeager outlived the younger actor who portrayed him. Amazing.

And Ridley was played by Levon Helm, of The Band, who was a pretty fair actor himself, not to mention a hell of a drummer.

Almost his entire career was writing plays.

Lousy plays, IMO, but that’s what he did for a living.

Sam Shepherd played a great role as Robert Rayburn in “Bloodline” (2015). Always one of my favorites. Rest in peace.

"The Right Stuff" is one of my all-time favorite movies (the book by Tom Wolfe is pretty good as well). The movie portrayed an America that used to be. Some artistic license was taken with the dialogues and personal situations of the characters but by and large, the book and movie accurately portrayed how the sound barrier was broken and the early years of our space program.

I can't believe Sam Shepard was 73 - we all get old so quickly. We need to appreciate every day of the life that we have.
