ICYMI: The Heart Of Anti-Trump Resistance Is Mostly A Bunch Of White Progressives
Townhall.com ^ | July 23, 2017 | Matt Vespa

This is for all of those who are not in the MSNBC orbit. Of course, many of you probably already know this, but for a movement that stresses diversity and talks about bringing all people together to fight racist, misogynist, and xenophobic Donald Trump, it’s pretty much a band of white, wealthy, and overly educated progressives who are still stung that Hillary Clinton is not president, or at least that’s the D.C. area, which accounts for one-third of those who have taken part in the protests against President Trump. The Washington Post noted that disparities in education, income, and race over these protests earlier this month. They also noted that for Black residents, they’re use to government falling short, and they they’re facing bigger obstacles in life than having their candidate lose an election:

One out of every three Washingtonians has marched in protest against President Trump or his policies at least once since January, making the District the capital of national dissent, a new Washington Post poll finds.

[…]

According to the Post poll, 53 percent of white residents participated in a march or demonstration in opposition to Trump’s policies since the start of the year, compared with 16 percent of African Americans and 36 percent of Hispanics and those of other racial and ethnic groups.

The overwhelmingly African American residents of Wards 7 and 8 are the city’s least likely to protest Trump, with only 12 percent saying they had. By contrast, 54 percent of residents in overwhelmingly white Wards 1 and 3 in Northwest Washington say they have protested the president.

High-income residents are among the most likely Trump protesters this year.

[…]

Mark Woodard, a black hospital technician who lives in Kingman Park in Northeast, said he has not felt compelled to protest because his life has not changed much under the new administration.

“I’m kind of waiting to see — he hasn’t made an impact yet,” Woodard said. “I’m able to go to my job; my benefits are fine. He’s not doing anything to affect me, so I’m not going to support any protests.”

Justina Jackson, 28, a black assistant pastry chef in Brookland who voted for Hillary Clinton, said that she is accustomed to being disappointed in government, no matter which party is in the White House, and that Trump is no different.

“I’m used to stuff not going my way,” she said. “There’s always some kind of obstacle I have to overcome just because I’m a young African American female. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who are upset about Trump."

There’s the case that those in lower income brackets don’t have time to protest. The Post also found that among Black voters, even if they disagree with President Trump, they’re not enthused or motivated to protest him. One of them, Raynard Styles, voted for Trump on the basis of change. He questions his vote now, but concerning protesting, it’s a no-go.

“He’s still my president, and I’m an American first,” he told the paper.

Five of the ten wealthiest counties are in the DC area, so I guess rabid liberals protesting Trump’s win is a given consequence. At least in the D.C. area, the so-called resistance is whiter, financially well off, and highly educated; it’s the archetypal urban professional. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but don’t do off marketing yourselves as some diverse coalition. The next time someone spouts how the GOP is so white; just remind them the heart of the D.C. resistance is just that—white people who can step away from work, whereas everyone else has other more important stuff to worry about than an election. In the meantime, this rabid cohort ofliberal condescending busybodies will continue to bash Trump, protest him, and take comfort in telling his supporters that they’re racist, deplorable, misogynist, sexist, xenophobic, and homophobic (Trump is the most pro-LGBT Republican ever elected, by the way). If they want to keep losing elections, yeah—keep doing that.

I could have told you that years ago, when I was still in University.

Limousine Liberals, Gucci Communists, and Volvo Socialists/Vulva Socialites.
The young, “cis-male” “White Devils” became activists because apparently activists get all the pussy. :P

I long ago learned that getting p*ssy from an activist leftist female is not worth the emotional price of having to put up with her.

Its obviously organized quite well by a certain government employees union. Their ranks feel threatened. They should be.

The people who are upset by Trump have the least to lose from any administration. Their support of socialism/communism is mostly virtue signaling--it's not like *they* will experience the consequences of the government becoming socialist. (They will, though.)

Kinda off-topic, but this is another example of how liberals have taken over the language. Liberals are no longer liberals. They are now “progressives”.

What’s next? Will liberals someday label non-PC free speech as “hate speech”? Oh, wait. They are already doing that.

Interesting little statistic is that only 8.3% of DC is of Hispanic descent. 49% black, 43.6% white. If this breakdown is accurate it indicates that the Hispanic demographic is overrepresented.

The picture is from State Street in Salt Lake, just South of North Temple.

Those are literally the ONLY Leftists in all of Utah.

Coulda rounded ‘em up right there, no problems forever after...

PS: half of them have probably never seen a black person since there’s only two or three in Utah (just joking, there’s 4 or 5 now...). If they ever set foot in Detroit it would terrify their little petunia hearts...

It's good that you put Progressives in quotation marks, because they are not. What they are is Regressives

Just a slight change to the title.

High-income residents are among the most likely Trump protesters this year.

High-income residents of DC are either top-level Swamp dwellers, lobbyists, or government contractors -- people slated to lose the most under a reforming administration.

No, I don’t consider myself a misogynist. The only women I’ve ever had a problem with are ones of the “progressive” variety. I’m sure THEY would consider me a misogynist, but I’m not really all that concerned about their opinions, TBH.

>>Kinda off-topic, but this is another example of how liberals have taken over the language. Liberals are no longer liberals. They are now “progressives”.

They were “Progressives” back when our side was “Liberal”. Progressives have been with us since before the Bolshevik Revolution and the phrase was coined by the father of American Progressivism, who was a Republican Senator. Betcha didn’t know about him, did you?

Liberal was not originally about turning our lives over the government. Classical liberalism is the exact opposite. But, when the Russian “experiment” didn’t go so well and people started wanting Communists out of American politics, people already knew of the Progressive-Communist connection.

Communists seek communism through revolution.

Progressives seek communism through gradual changes in thoughts. They are the inventors of the “nudge”, the slow changing of how we think by controlling how we act and what we can say through regulation and social pressure. Progressivism is kindler-gentler Communism. It is a thousand points of light against what they consider the darkness of capitalism.

So, the Progs took “liberal” from us by the use of the nudge.

After Obama’s election, they felt empowered enough to dust off the old red flag and start owning up to their Progressive roots. Yes, it is about “progress”, but it is not progress as a Christian would understand.

I think Trump emotes and vents in a way that minorities and the unwashed can relate to. He is a scrapper and he demands respect and loyalty. He is also tolerant of responses in kind. He can dish and take. I have not found many minorities that don’t like him. Watching Trump bash the white privileged elite is healing the racial divides. It is reminding us the battle is not racial or religious or even partisian but between a wannabe ruling class and us incorrigibles.
