Rep. Thomas Massie: Make Concealed Carry Great Again

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) is working to make concealed carry great again by pushing legislation that will force Washington bureaucrats to recognize a valid concealed carry permit from any state in the union.

This would quickly fix a situation like the nation witnessed on June 14, 2017, when a Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire on Republican lawmakers in Alexandria, Virginia. Some of those lawmakers possess a concealed carry permit but were not able to have their guns with them because of the fact that they have to go in and out of Washington on daily basis.

Hmmm. Well, other than the fact that the "permitting" process still "infringes" on the 2nd amendment by letting the govt decide if you're worthy or not and "allowing" you to bear arms................

NO special treatment for Capitol Hill on gun rights. None. Never.
What’s good for them is good for the average American.

Welcome to the club, "lawmakers". How about just deleting unnecessary, and unconstitutional laws that inhibit everyone's ability to exercise 2A rights.

As long as predicate felons and active schizophrenics (as examples) roam about among us a “permitting” process is necessary.

Because we all know the “permitting process” stops predicate felons and active schizophrenics from obtaining weapons?

Rep. Massie isn’t proposing special rights for congressmen, he’s proposing national reciprocity for state issues concealed carry permits - much like we have national reciprocity for state issued drivers licenses. That sounds like a good idea to me.

....Rep. Massie isn’t proposing special rights for congressmen...

However, that idea is still floating, but is being met with resistance by the public and alot of Congress.

No loons need apply.

Under 18 U.S.C. § 922(d), it is unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person “has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution.”

You are the loon, they don't apply they acquire.

If laws worked a 100%, people wouldn't commit crimes, but they do.

I hear you, you have no argument for the absurd proposition that everyone should be allowed to buy a gun regardless of their mental status. Welcome aboard!

No law prevents anyone from doing anything they are inclined to do. I’m sure you know lots of people or have seen people who should not have firearms. Just about everytime we go to the range I cringe at some of the people there and their handling of weapons. Not to stand up for felons but, they are not all violent are they? As far as the crazies, there is currently a search going on in PA for 4 young men. The person of interest (adjudicated ‘loon’ as you would say) was caught with a 20 gauge shotgun. Don’t know the details of how he got it.

Just because some people can navigate around federal laws doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be in place, or that they don’t stop some unqualified people from buying a gun. I’m certain most folks agree that people with a history of demonstrable mental illness shouldn’t be allowed to buy a gun. And of course anyone can get a gun in any number of other ways, but for the purpose of this discussion I’m talking about walking into a gun store and buying a gun.

Great, but why limit it to DC?

Oh, I agree they should be in place to prevent the “casual” assclowns but the determined will circumvent them most of the time one way or another. Legal sales at FFLs, got that.
