My Chinese and Tiawanese friends all consider themselves Chinese. The “idea” of China being bigger than georgraphy or politics sort of thing. I don’t always get it, but I respect it.

Just how are they able to hear someone pronounce an upper case “R” rather than a lower case “r” as in “the republic of China” and also as in “the republic of the United States of America”, both of which would be correct.

I viewed it as a sort of Freudian Slip. An accidental way of dissing China. That is why I posted it. But look at all replies. They think I did it to take a pot shot at Trump.
It seems that I need to write lengthy disclaimer and detailed explanation of why I posted it.
