What about ‘Miss you’?
When I was teaching vocational electronics in high school, we were funded under the Perkins Act. In order to claim a success and continued funding for the program, we had to demonstrate that students from our program went on to college, enlisted in the military or were hired in a job related to their training.
We did this with a mandatory follow-up one year after the student completed the program.
The whole album was great, but “Eyes” was such a complete departure from typical Stones. I had no idea any of them could play steel guitar.
C’mon! This is from the Onion, isn’t it?
“A Clockwork Orange”
That doesn’t surprise me one bit. Makes me glad I don’t have any grandchildren to have to worry about going to the schools today.
So what is Comrade Rahm going to do if someone does not achieve their plan? Fine them? Jail them? Send them into exile? What a stupid idea. It will be gone in about three years. Just another example of the delusional lefties.
There will be a way around this dumb order——there always is.

The requirement for an “actual (college) acceptance letter” is just another case of the government requiring the presentation of a document. As anyone familiar with documentary mandates, this serves mainly to create a cottage industry in the production of counterfeit documents.
Does it really matter in the case of Chicago? I mean the vast majority of HS students haven’t learned anything in their years in the Chicago Public Schools, so the “diploma” is a worthless piece of paper anyway. And there is a “sixth option” that should be included: become a gang member. (that is if you haven’t already joined one while you were “receiving your formal education”)
Leave chicago if you want freedom.
LOL! Gonna have a combination of eternal HS students and fake plans with only those who become eternal students getting punished...this will be every bit as effective as Clinton’s midnight basketball “solution” to inner city crime/poverty....
“...Chicago will force its students to choose from one of just five government-approved options...”
How about the sixth option which many of them already choose - jail. Yes, Chicago, if they choose to do nothing, put them in jail.
That’s carrot. This is stick. They dhould be told to take the stick... Well, decency forbids completing the thought colorfully. But out of here.
“And frankly... where would the room in such a government plan be for a Bill Gates? They may be chopping off the high end of the bell curve without even realizing it.”
It is ironic both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs dropped out of liberal academia’s ivory towers and with their genius and innate capabilities far exceeded the accomplishments of 99.9999% of the degree holders from those universities.
As to the subject of the article, I once read Clarence Thomas said what saved him from sinking into the culture of the urban ghetto was being removed from it and given to Catholic nuns for education and rearing.
Unfortunately the culture of the poor black community is toxic. Until society, and the black community, admit to the situation and address the problem head on, there will be no improvement and future generations of black children will suffer.
“And frankly... where would the room in such a government plan be for a Bill Gates? They may be chopping off the high end of the bell curve without even realizing it.”
Government cannot recognize a Bill Gates. Nor can academia. It is ironic both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs dropped out of college. They educated themselves and achieved far more than the graduates of the liberal academies of the elites.
That’s the point. Let the system even if abysmal be free. Once we try to own it, it really is our baby.

Like healthcare. The GOP should have just repealed Obamacare the first week Trump was in office. Instead they’ve spent 6 months trying to “improve” it. No matter what happens now, including the collapse of Obamacare, the GOP owns it.
